Shenasi Carpet

Shenasi recently repaired and cleaned two approx. 6x4’ Persian carpets for me. The service was excellent – the tasks were executed skilfully and the service was knowledgeable and friendly. I inherited these two carpets about 30 or 40 years ago, having been handed down in the family for about three generations. One was in need of cleaning and some repair, and the other one was in such poor condition that it was unusable and therefore stored in a box for ages, and I almost threw it out because of its rough shape. For both, Shenasi repaired holes, re-stitched/wrapped the long edges, and restored the fringe on the short edges (see pic), all well done with colour-matched yarn – it’s hard for the naked eye to discern the repairs. For both, the cleaning resulted in the colours looking remarkably fresh and vibrant. I now have two great-looking carpets that function beautifully in my home, instead of being hidden away in storage.An interesting bonus is that Shenasi was able to tell me something of the history of the carpets, including the approx. time period they were made and in one case in which village. It was also interesting meeting the gentleman who does the repairs, who told me how, starting as a boy, he learned to make carpets from his father. Thanks Shenasi! –K. in North Van

I just had my 40 year old Persian (Nain) carpet cleaned and fringes repaired. They did exceptional work. My family has used their carpet appraisal and cleaning for 3 decades. Very satisfied with their very knowledgeable and professional team.

I had my rug cleaned by Shenasi on 2 occasions. Once in 2018 and again in 2021. I have had my silk Kashmiri rug since 2011 and bought it brand new from rug bazaar on Cordova when it was there. I always made sure to have it cleaned every 3 or so years of use and had it stored when not in use and every time it came back in perfect condition and looking like new. I unfortunately lost the contact of the original cleaning company. In April of 2018 I called Shenasi to come clean my rug as I was moving homes and going to put it in storage. The men who came were polite and the price seemed fair. They accommodated dropping my rug off while I was out of town.It wasn’t until I took it out of storage over a year later in July 2019 did I realize how unhappy I was with their treatment. The lustre was gone and it just didn’t seem very clean. At that time so many months had passed I decided to forget about it and move on with my life. I had my rug appraised in 2020 and it still was worth a good amount. Then again in February or march of 2021 I happened to call them again to ask if it was they who cleaned my rug as I wanted to make sure not to make the same mistake. The man on the phone INSISTED that they would do a better job and give me a promotional deal. I consented because they assured me that they would clean it the customary way and it would look good. They delivered it to my new house in April 2021 and to my dismay the rug was still dingy looking. The tassels were sparkling white but the border now was faded several shades to soft peach from a vivid red/pink. They claimed it was from dog urine but my dog had a favorite spot - which is actually a darker hue than the rug. They also ended up charging me more than they initially quoted. When I emailed with photos I was told someone would be in touch but no one ever responded.Now that I’m moving again and it’s time for another clean I can’t help but think back about this disaster and how MY RUG WAS RUINED. Please. Do your research before you hand off your valuable rug to these guys. It’s an absolute shame what has happened.

Although it took several weeks, they had 5 area rugs to clean, and one that needed repairs. The carpets look like new, and the repairs were exceptional. Good value. Would definitely recommend

These guys did a great job restoring a valuable rug that was unravelling at the fringes. It also needed stretching and cleaning. It took some time as much of it had to be done by hand but the results were worth the wait. The repair also came in on budget. Great job.
