I sent this letter to Julian Holmes (cc. to Dusil Design) on November 15, 2020.I would like to share some feedback. When we first met back in the early summer you had commented your work ethic and integrity as a contractor/landscaper is something that you value. That you understood, those traits aren't consistently valued across your field. However, you felt that you wanted to be a role model of professional practice in your industry.I must say my experience with you since August 7th, when I confirmed I wanted to proceed has been very sub-optimal and disappointing.You do not respond to emails unless prompted. You indicate the gas person and carpenter are coming on-site. You have indicated this more than once. Perhaps I should have reviewed my security cameras? I have requested a copy and design details from you, from the carpenter. No details or quote have been provided despite several requests. You indicated you haven't heard from the carpenter. Isn't it your responsibility to follow-up with your carpenter?When we spoke in early August you indicated the project was doable" for this year. My priority was the hardscape. You (and Alica) indicated the crew would be able to work until the end of November. On October 15th you indicated that due to supplies issues you weren't able to start this year. I have contacted another contractor who is able to procure the supplies for the deck. This was my priority this year.If you weren't interested in my landscape project you should have been honest at the beginning. I wasted so much time waiting for answers

For their poor slow driving on the road

We highly recommend Julian Holmes for your landscaping projects. We had a tired looking front area of our home with overgrown mature cedars and rotted railway ties and it has been beautifully and tastefully transformed. The area has literally been opened up to great effect! Julian carefully planned out the project, right down to the colour and type of plants, the stonework used and the best mulch for the planted area. We were able to save a grafted hydrangea tree from the old front and replant it in our backyard perennial garden. A lovely large landscape granite stone, previously partially obscured by one of the overgrown cedars in the old front was placed in a prominent place and now has a proper home!His pricing is quite reasonable for the quality of the work done and he has a great eye for envisioning solutions to landscaping challenges. He is great to work with, same for his staff. The project was done efficiently, neatly and professionally, and on time. We are extremely pleased with both the work and the results.---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Our backyard grass needed to be replaced, an old aluminum garden shed removed and at the same time, we wished a perennial garden plot to be developed in the middle of the yard. Being quite pleased with our first project with J. Holmes Landscaping, we contacted Julian again for this project. Once again, we were very pleased with the results. The crew assigned to the project, Kyle, Kieran and Braeden, were great. They worked well together, were accomodating to our requests, friendly and were a pleasure to interact with. They worked very hard and are a good example of how teamwork should be! The old shed was quickly taken down and removed, the old lawn was scraped down and sod laid in a very efficient and careful manner. A kidney shaped raised garden in the centre of the yard was installed with some lovely perennials and topped with a pine mulch. Everything looks wonderful. Once again, a quality professional job and a very pleased customer here. I highly recommend J. Holmes Landscaping!
