Motion Dance Academy

It’s never boring with Mrs. Hein. We are always learning fun new moves and she constantly pushes us to always try our best. She never leaves a student behind when someone doesn’t understand a move. Competitions are always a blast! Pricing is super affordable and convenient! I have been dancing here for 5 years now and I never want to leave. An amazing teacher, fun competitions, and affordable pricing! She works extremely hard to make her students better and always gives us tips to improve! 10/10 recommend!!

I have been dancing at Motion Dance Academy for 9 years now and it has always been a wonderful experience. Mrs. Hein goes above and beyond to help and support her students in any way possible. She makes experiences like competitions, conventions, and exams super fun and non-stressful. I started dancing with her when her studio was quite new and every year she is always thinking of new ways to make the experience even more fun and enjoyable for her students. I'm so glad that I have had Mrs. Hein as a dance teacher and I wholeheartedly recommend Motion Dance Academy to anyone who is interested in dancing!

Dancing with Motion Dance Academy has been a great experience. Although there are challenges regarding facilities in a small town like Fernie, Mrs Hein has always fought for more opportunities for her students. At Motion Dance Academy we were able to travel to many festivals, competitions, conventions, and take place in community events such as Canada Day festivities! At Motion Dance Academy we were also offered the opportunity to take ADAPT jazz and tap exams as well as RAD ballet exams. Thanks to this studio, I’ve grown as a dancer and made some awesome friends. The year end show is a blast and I always look forward to seeing everyone on stage having fun.

This was the most stressed I had ever been dancing. I moved into Fernie expecting to countinue my love of dance, and this was the only school I could afford to go to. If your a competitive dancer, you can forget compitions. There is one compition a year, and only kids 10 and up are aloud to attend. You aren't prepped for it either, and Mrs.Hein finished our dance for the compition the last practice before compition. When we got to compition, we were set up for failure. She ran the dance with us twice, and then made it out like we were ready to dance, when we where no where near. We got one of the worst scores of the day, and I had a mental breakdown not due to the score but because I knew had I been given the resources and this dance wasn't just completed we would have done better. Mrs.Hein simply does not care enough to set her students up to succeed. She does almost nothing but yell and snap at students, treating them with no respect, and humiliates you if you cannot do a move. The end rehearsal of the year is overpriced and cramped, everyone is sent into one room and there is no privacy for when you change. This room opens up onto the stage has well, so you have no idea if the audience can currently see you changing. This studio is overpriced and not worth it what so ever.
