I have been to city hall many times through the years. The staff members in planning and inspection/permit departments are very helpful and patient. My questions/problems were complex sometime not very clear since I did not know better. I found everyone that I have dealt with was very professional and willing to help. It is also true for the clerks in the fire department.

Started a renovation project and found the work that they had signed off on for the previous renovation. Someone must have had a friend at Saanich. Dangerous oversights not to code for the time of the reno.

Leanne in the Inspections Branch is very helpful and kind. I also had good experiences with Jarilee Powell and Kevin Gill. They don't have an easy job, but they are willing to work with Homeowners like me. The building inspectors also have a good helpful approach. better then downtown Victoria!

Got a bylaw ticket for invalid parking.Phoned, and made a youtube video, contacted town hall again and made progress with a senior officer.After some back and forth ( which was cordial )We were able to come to a mutual understanding about why I got the violation, and was able to come together.I think the most part the ticket was issued in good faith but I took it the wrong way. I also had a good interaction with Saanich police once and they gave me a warning so overall I think they are pretty fair.

JJ was so awesome helping us today! We will ask for her everytime we go from now on. We had an awful experience last time we were in with another lady in the office and this time we got the help we needed and were provided with all the stuff we needed for our permit that the other lady was not even willing to look for. JJ thanks you for turning the experience around for us we really appreciate you. Keep up the good work!

We have too much to be grateful for here in Saanich. Are there things to complain about? Of course. Why be bitter though? Everyone here is doing their best. Speak up and take meaningful action to get things done and be listened to.

Shelborne was already in a bad state without removing all the trees (most of which are a century old!!!). All this just to preserve traffic flow and pander to car owners!Get with the times guys! We need more mass transit, more bike lanes, and less cars!
