I've been seeing Jenessa at NOCTEM for about 6 or 7 years now, long before her salon was located at Citizen. I have always been provided really great hair care and 100% owe my hair health to her. She truly cares about her clients and has a multifaceted approach to hair care and styling. I appreciate that her goal is to provide longevity and livability for her clients and that she will always make her clients hair health a top priority. She is honest and takes a lot of pride in her work!

This review is in regards to Elsa @ Citizen Salon. This will be a lengthy review but please read, especially if you have naturally curly hair and are looking to have it coloured. I have naturally dark brown curly hair and decided about a year ago to go blonde. I went to several stylists throughout the past year (well known Calgary Salons), with a number of them claiming the reason I wasn’t able to get the results I requested was because of my hair colour or texture. As a result I always left the salons disappointed and a bit defeated. I, like most people looking to make a drastic change watched multiple hair transformation videos prior to these appointments so, I knew what I was asking of the stylists was possible regardless of what they told me after the fact.Fast forward to my appointment with Elsa. I found her via instagram and messaged her right away. From the beginning she was very hands on and involved with my hair goal. Prior to the appointment I provided photos of what my hairs current state was as well as some inspo photos as to what I was hoping to achieve. Elsa was completely transparent providing a break down of the total cost of the appointment as well as setting expectations of what the end result would be for my hair. That transparency is not something I’m used to experiencing in this industry at all so It was really refreshing.What really stood out to me working with Elsa was really her ability to really listen to me, and understand what my relationship with my hair has been like, as well as educating me about hair care beyond my knowledge. Elsa exudes confidence, and you can tell just through conversation that she really understands her craft. Elsa was easily able to obtain the results I wanted without disturbing the integrity of my hair. she was really able to tailor the entire process to fit my request and comfort level. I highly recommend her, especially if you’ve been in my position before where you haven’t been able to reach your hair goals because previous stylists have just told you “it’s not possible.”It’s been exactly one week since Elsa coloured my hair. For one, I’m 31 and have never been able to leave a salon with my hair styled straight where I wasn’t required to touch it up myself afterwards because the stylist couldn’t straighten my roots properly. Elsa straightened my hair perfectly. I went from nearly a head full of dark brown hair to platinum blonde, and left with healthier feeling hair than I had came in with. Secondly I washed my hair today one week after my appointment. I was dreading it feeling like a haystack in the shower not absorbing any water like how it typically does after I get it coloured and was honestly shocked that my hair still felt as healthy as it did before I had it coloured by Elsa.Again sorry for the long review but I hope I’ve shared enough for anyone reading to know that Elsa takes complete pride in her work as well as her clients. I will definitely be going back to visit her.

Elsa at L-SUSU is amazing! She coloured, sourced and put in my extensions and they are incredible. So easy to wear and maintain. Her technique is very unique and the best I have ever experienced. She also does my cut and colour. I have never received so many compliments on my hair! On top of her super impressive skills, Elsa is the kindest human on the planet. She is so hardworking and really listens to her clients. I can’t say enough about Elsa. She is truly the best and I would recommend her to anyone.

Elsa with lsu.suhairandbeauty did my Bridal Hair and makeup on September 2022 and I have never felt so beautiful in my life. I only trust Elsa now with all my beauty services as she truly is an artist in her craft. It is very hard for me to trust people with my makeup as I feel they always do too much. Elsa, knows how to treat all skin types and brings out the best with eye shadow colors, contour and blush. My Bridal makeup was flawless!!! My hair style was timeless and it stayed in place the whole day throughout evening without any touch ups. Elsa also did my 1/2 of my bridesmaids and the other half had to go to another stylist and let me tell you, they had her touching them up and my other girls were wishing they had seen her too! Thank you Elsa for being such a great person, making me feel confident and being the sweetest. HIGHLY recommend your Bridal Day to be with Elsa. All the love, Char-

I've been going to Elsa for a while to do microlink extensions. Her work is flawless and she's so fast! I don't ever want to go back to a sew in. I got hair from her custom hair line and I've never seen hair like this before. The density and thickness is consistent from root to tip! I know I'll be enjoying these extensions for many years

Elsa at Studio L'Susu Hair + Beauty is the best in the city! From the moment I walk into her beautiful studio, she makes me feel so comfortable and appreciated. I’ve had everything done from cuts, colors, extensions, wigs, and she never fails to amaze me! Elsa has also helped me through my curly hair journey. Booked an appointment with Elsa at L-SUSU and needless to say my experience was horrible. Not only did she charge an excessive amount for a wig. But it began falling apart in the week and she completely ghosted me! Blocked me on socials and ignored my emails without even responding to the photos I sent to her of the wigs tracks falling apart. i suggest anyone reading this truly avoid at all costs. A stylist named Olivia K. Thankfully made me a beautiful wig installed and styled for half the price!

I have been getting my hair done for the past 4 years, at Studio L'Susu Hair by the incredibly talented Elsa. I have had everything done from cuts, colours, extensions and makeup. Every time I leave the studio I'm left AMAZED by her talent. You also need to know that Elsa is the kindest, most selfless person I've ever met. She is simply wonderful. I have referred many friends to Elsa, and they have all loved their results as well. I count down the days until my next service.

I got hair extensions done at Studio L'Susu Hair by the amazing Elsa Hailemariam and oh my word they changed my life. First, Citizen Salon is such a great space, it's so neat and clean and houses many wonderful stylists. Secondly, Elsa has been the most amazing hair stylist I have had the pleasure of working with. My extensions are absolutely lovely and have made me feel so confident and amazing. I've seen Elsa just a few times, but it feels like I have known her forever, she is a bubbly amazing person who makes you feel so comfortable from the moment you book your appointment to the moment you leave the chair. I 100% recommend her and this studio as it's been the best experience ever. Love, love LOVE! <3
