False Creek Harbour Authority - Fishermen's Wharf
Fishing boats often park at the dock and selling fresh seafood. Nice area to look across the water at the Downtown while eating one of the best fish and chips.

We ate at the gofish restaurant which is attached to the fisherman's wharf complex. The wharf itself I live near it and it is such a well run establishment

False Creek Harbour Authority - Fishermen's Wharf
We sailed up to Vancouver from US/Bellingham and stayed for the week at the Fisherman's Wharf marina on our boat in November 2022. It was the only place we could find with available transient moorage in the downtown area at that time, and our first time visiting the city by boat. In hindsight it was about the best place we could have stayed. False creek was extremely well protected from wind, and we were just a five minute walk from all the great restaurants, pubs, and market on Granville Island. The public bus system was incredibly convenient to ride, with stops just a short walk south of the marina. The marina itself was clean, though the docks themselves were a bit aged. A full-time attendant provided both assistance as needed and security. The marina was not gated, though only a single entrance was kept open overnight. Also of advantage for a foreign visitor is the customs dock at the south end of the marina (see picture). It is fairly nondescript, but it's there with yellow paint on the edge of the dock. We cleared into Canada from the US at this point, after sailing up the Strait of Georgia from the San Juan Islands.

Very reasonable rates, harbour employees are very friendly, and they have security patrolling at night.

Spot prawns, meant to be a fresh and community-focused seafood option, sadly fall short. The incredibly high costs have turned it into a once-a-year attraction for tourists, rather than an affordable choice for everyone in Vancouver. It's disheartening that only restaurants and wealthy individuals can afford to purchase from here, leaving the local and fresh products inaccessible to the broader community. The unaffordability contradicts the idea of supporting local food and diminishes its potential impact. The reality is simple: spot prawns have become a missed opportunity for Vancouver. Until efforts are made to address the affordability issue, many residents will continue to miss out on experiencing this local delicacy firsthand. Po
