When we called the Southampton location one week before our trip we were told not to worry about reserving kayaks during the week from Tuesday to Thursday for pickup, as there are many available due to less people renting on these days. On the Tuesday of our trip we called to ask about picking up the kayaks we discussed and were told that no one is available on Tuesdays or Wednesdays to unlock and rent out kayaks.

At 70 yrs I decided to get into kayaking. I called Thorncrest Outfitters to see if they had what I was looking for in stock. They did and for a small deposit they would be willing to hold it for me until spring when I could pick it up.When I finally did Janette checked to make sure I had it safely secured on my roof rack, gave me some useful info about the taxi services they provide and sent me happily on my way.Very friendly and knowledgeable and lots of accessories for me to come back and browse.

On a recent trip down the Saugeen we left a day bag with many valuables in it at our lunch spot and only realized it was missing 20km downriver. The folks at Thorncrest were incredibly helpful and shuttled us back up river so we could search for it. They were very friendly and I was impressed that they were able to help us out on such short notice and for such a reasonable price. I hope to do business with them again and would recommend them to anyone!

Great place. Shuttle service is top notch, got us on the river during the week even when the river front shop was closed. Steve loaded up our boat and unloaded them while marley kept guard. Thanks again Steve for helping us out was a beauty day on the river can't wait to come back.

Really great location for various hours of kayaking or canoeing down a river. It's a nice trip down the river and very quiet all in nature with a distant sound sometimes of the highway. You see many birds along the way! I always do kayaking since it's what I love best and these are pretty great kayaks even for beginners! The staff are really nice and lovely and they have safety protocols in place in terms of physical distancing right now. But our driver was very kind and very nice! Highly advised if you're interested in canoeing or kayaking!

Was an awesome day out on the river..came close to literally being left upstream without a paddle.. luckily we were able to get his attention to stop before pulling away with essential gear needed to carry on...so make sure you have everything before the shuttle van leaves you sitting beside the river with no paddle. Other than that it was an amazing adventure we would do over and over again!
