I had the most magical stay at the Pebble B&B with my sisters. Liz has created such a warm and welcoming space, it really feels like staying with family. The house is and gardens are beautiful and the decor and furnishing are so tasteful, not to mention you're steps away from the ocean arm. Our room was very cozy with fresh towels and sheets daily. The breakfasts were also superb. Every day we had 2 homemade courses with special pebble blend coffee freshly brewed! The homemade scones and jam were particularly memorable. We loved our time here, it will be our new go-to whenever we're in Halifax. Thank you Liz!

I don’t typically post reviews online, but I’ll make an exception for The Pebble. This is the most charming place I’ve ever stayed. Before even walking through the doors, my travel companions and I were greeted by our host, Liz, with genuine warmth and excitement. Liz and David were outstanding hosts. They were kind, attentive, knowledgeable and, most importantly, always ready to share a laugh. For two nights, I stayed in The Garret—which is the top floor of the bed and breakfast. The beds were comfy, and the sitting area in our massive room was the perfect to place relax after long days of exploring Halifax. Now you can’t have a B&B without breakfast. The breakfasts I had at The Pebble were restaurant quality. Seriously. I’ll be dreaming of their poached peaches in yogurt for years to come.As a whole, The Pebble is stylish and immaculate. But Liz and David are what make The Pebble extraordinary. Stay here if you can. For the views, the warmth and the awesome people you’ll meet.Thank you Liz and David!

A high end B&B with charming hosts (Liz and David) who hold themselves to a very high standard of hospitality. The rooms are lovely, recently renovated. Breakfast is very nice, customised if you have dietary restrictions.Liz is a very engaging hostess: draws you in and gets to know you intimately, which for us is a huge part of staying in a B&B (the getting-to-know-your-hosts part).Very lovely large house, view of the Bay and a well appointed sitting room to relax in. They have their liqueurs and port out for you to enjoy, extraordinarily generous. Liz also makes it clear that you can use her kitchen to brew tea, essentially her attitude is that it's your house as well. Full of advice of what to see in the city and where to eat. She can get you reservations at the good restaurants that tend to be booked up. We took her suggestion for 2 of our dinners during our 3 days (one in Halifax and one in Peggy's Cove) and were not disappointed. The third we did not (was an impromptu night out) and regretted it.The O'Carrolls have been in this house for 25 years and have clearly been constantly investing in it. Liz makes up the room every day (you'd be surprised at how few B&Bs still do this; we are B&B veterans and have stayed at dozens over the years in the US and Canada...)Would stay here again in a heartbeat. We stayed here 3 days (longest stay during our NS road trip) and no regrets.

Our stay at The Pebble was pure perfection. It was the most beautiful experience our family has every had. We were in Halifax to celebrate our daughter's wedding. The Pebble was an incredible setting for this event. The gardens are spectacular, the home magnificient and the ambience was so romantic for the wedding photographs. Liz and David welcomed us like family. I could not have dreamed of a better location for all the wedding festivities. The Pebble is the perfect location for families and guests who are attending a destination event in Halifax. It would also be a great location for a intimate wedding. The guests suites were so elegant, the linen was divine and the breakfast delicious. We will never forget this wonderful experience and are so thankful to Liz and David for their hospitality and kindness. It was magical.

The Pebble
The Pebble is quite simply the best B&B I have stayed in anywhere in Canada let alone Nova Scotia. The charm and class of 1839 Armview Terrace is only exceeded by that of Liz and David O'Carroll who are outstanding innkeepers and hosts. From the comfortable bed, to the spacious and well-equipped bathrooms with Molton & Brown toiletries, to the excellent breakfasts and steady supply of tea and Newman's port in the evening, The Pebble is in a category all its own. It is truly my home away from home while in Halifax.

Elizabeth made our staymemorable. We were treated with Irish warmth and hospitality throughout. Spotless comfort was provided in every way. I am not surprised that it is rated number one in halifax. I had a cup of Irish tea this morning in celebration of our visit.

Experience encompassing luxury and true Irish hospitality at this exquisite BnB!I've stayed at hotels, Air BnBs and boutique BnBs during my travels. While I have always enjoyed travelling to new places, my discriminating taste in lodgings, has often led to disappointment even in those hotels that are rated highly for luxury. The Pebble is simply the highest quality in a meticulously designed, carefully curated and impeccably maintained BnB experience. From the moment you walk through the lovely arched doorway, you feel your senses alight in the delicate fragrances of citrus, warm candle light and beautifully appointed décor. The ultimate highlight is the warm welcome of the hosts - Liz and David. You are made to feel like family, greeted after your weary travels with enthusiasm and care.Careful consideration has been put into every aspect of guest experience, from how furniture and lighting are arranged, artful cabinetry, window treatments, multiple French doors leading out onto cozy nooks of the gorgeous grounds, heated floors, spa like baths, beautiful rooms with luxury linens, candles, artwork, plush robes and toiletries. Everything is thought through and everything is maintained so well day after day. Liz and David's effort to curate every aspect of a guest's experience meticulously, is evident in even the smallest details like the placement of candles, choice of cutlery, linens and books. While a picture might say a thousand words, no picture can truly communicate the breadth of the luxe experience of staying at the Pebble. And no place might ever come close to bringing Liz's unrivaled Irish hospitality.

Staying at the pebble for our first time was truly a blessing. For ease, let us list some of the important items upfront. The home is beautiful, beds are comfortable, luxurious bathrooms, breakfasts were local, fresh and incredibly delicious (we are foodies - you can’t get breakfast like this other places) and the neighborhood is adorable / perfectly located for visiting Halifax and other popular sights. Our room also had water views. The showers were a treat, with plenty of space, great water pressure, and high-end Molten & Brown products. Our room was also refreshed each day with fresh pressed linens like at a five star hotel. It quickly became clear to us how much love and care has gone into both the home itself and also the experience of staying there. We enjoyed the social areas out on the patio in the morning and in the living room at night beside the complimentary bar, browsing through a wide selection of cool books. Now for some of the intangibles. My wife and I are pretty social, which Liz must have picked up on quickly having hosted many people over the years. So we got to know her and David on the first day over some homemade scones / jam and freshly brewed tea. For me at least, sometimes I’ll shy away from chatting too much, but I’m so glad we didn’t. We left the pebble feeling like we found a home in Halifax and having made two new friends. I’m not joking when I say my wife and I were both pleasantly surprised when we found out our ferry was cancelled and we would be staying another night at the pebble. There are so many subtle touches about this place it’d be hard to express it all in words, but in short we highly recommend it for anyone and hope to visit again in the future!
