Vic Tesolin Woodworks

As a 53 year old woman, I wanted to learn how to properly use my woodworking tools. I had my first lesson a few weeks back and I loved it. I was terrified of my router and by half way through my lesson, Vic made me feel confident. Vic showed me many ways of doing things in the 'shop' that I just never thought of. I really enjoyed Vic’s course on making a dovetail box. Taking the course finally made me tackle hand cut dovetail joints. And he made it look so easy. He has lots of tips throughout the course. The big bonus is you can review at any time the recording of each session to confirm little points as you actually make your box. Questions that arise between sessions are quickly answered via a WhatsApp chat group. Great course, great support.

Vic is a great teacher, he's very patient and can explain things clearly. His classes are structured, his methods are as simple as possible, and he doles out a wealth of tips to prevent mistakes and to stay safe in the shop. He also believes in inclusiveness and diversity in woodworking and in life which I appreciate. I highly recommend Vic and Andrea (who keeps everything organized).

Taking classes with Vic has been tremendously valuable. He is highly skilled and knowledgeable as a woodworker, with teaching abilities to match. Classes are great fun, full of information, and refreshingly free of woodworking dogma. Vic is a superb teacher. Besides his knowledge and experience, Vic explains and listens well. And he is fun to talk to. I could not be happier with our online one-on-one sessions. Andrea, who runs the shop, is also excellent. She’s a great communicator and everything has been well arranged. I recommend their services enthusiastically.Here is one example of Vic's teaching, one that shows how he focuses on where the student is, not on some pre-baked lesson plan. I was trying to improve my dovetails and we talked specifically about how to cut the pin board, after tracing the tails. Vic got me to use a different knife (I was using a standard" double-bevel)

I couldn't have asked for a better experience or outcome from an in-person, tutored build.I had a project in mind for Christmas but wasn't sure if it was practical. Whether the wood I wanted to use was suitable or the timescales feasible. Turns out it was... At least with the help of Vic and Andrea.After a quick meeting to scope the project, I signed up for in-person sessions in Vic's shop, that way I was able to combine instruction with access to tools and equipment I didn't have. Andrea was super-organised in scheduling the sessions and keeping us both moving along. Working with Vic on the build was a great experience. He is an excellent instructor. I learned a lot about the tasks at hand and picked up all kinds of other insights about the craft as we made our way through the build. Highly recommended!

Vic's online classes are great. You get a detailed dive into a variety of different woodworking topics, but it's never overwhelming. The shop is set up well for video so demos are easy to follow along. Having a recording to go back to and reference is an added bonus. Vic is a natural teacher and his approachable demeanor makes the class feel more like you're just having a conversation with a friend (who happens to know a lot about woodworking).
