Our Community Music Centre
Amazing!!!! I have taken guitar lessons with various teachers in the Vancouver area and nothing compares to the progress I made learning from Benedict Marsh. Knowing how to play guitar does not easily translate into being able to teach it well. Teaching is a skill in and of its own. Benedict has the guitar skills and is an excellent teacher. He understands the neurological mechanisms behind learning a new skill, and his methods have greatly improved my playing! He's knowledgeable, talented and adapts his teaching style to fit with your goals and learning style.

I look forward to coming to class and learning something new every time, regardless of which class skill level I'm in. I've always wanted to learn to play by ear and I like that Benedict inspires you to practice and get better and encourages you to really listen and feel the music you're trying to play. He is a very experienced player himself so he has lots of helpful tricks as you go along. I think a group setting would be great too as having other students next to you can inspire you further and you can learn from each other as well.

I had taken guitar lessons years ago and wished to restart and improve my skills. After some research, I found Ben, one of the best guitar teachers I have ever had. Our Community Music Centre is a supportive and encouraging environment to learn guitar, make mistakes and be curious. As a beginner I’ve only accessed the tip of the iceberg of Benedict’s knowledge and experience which he makes completely accessible. Music is a felt experience and the lesson is where you can explore your relationship with music. You learn to play guitar not just with your hands, but use your whole body. His philosophy of everyone’s ability to play, participate and create music rings true every lesson. I believe his talent and musicianship would allow for continuous learning and improvement no matter what your experience level.The lesson set-up is great too. Best deal in Vancouver! Once you sign-up, unlimited learning and fun. OCMC comes Highly Recommended!!!

Our Community Music Centre promotes an incredibly comfortable place to learn the guitar, especially for beginners. I was intimidated at first to attempt this new skill in a group setting but find it extremely beneficial to the entire learning process. So happy to be part of this amazing community.

Benedict is an AMAZING teacher!! He is patient, supportive, knowledgeable and fun when it comes to learning the guitar and just an awesome guy to know! I highly recommend taking lessons from him whether you're a novice or advanced guitar player. I always learn something new at every class. :)

I've had the pleasure of working with Benedict on many occasions over the years, he is a wonderful, comprehensive and down to earth teacher. I would highly recommend this place!

Benedict is charismatic, kind, and has extensive knowledge in all aspects of music - including music theory, acoustic and electric guitar, piano, songwriting, and probably more I don't know of. No matter what difficulty you struggle with, he always has an answer to your question. He promotes more holistic approaches to learning guitar, and is very encouraging when you're learning something new. I would say he is the real deal!

I don't think I could have imagined a more inspiring and interesting way to learn to play the guitar before I met Ben. He is such a fun and effective teacher. I started to take the group lessons 5 months ago at Our Community Music Centre. Ben creates a comfortable environment and with ease encourages and inspires everyone to try things beyond their limits. I was a bit hesitant to learn in a group setting but I am totally convinced it is the best way to improve your guitar playing. If you are looking for quality fun and affordable lessons in Vancouver you should definitely give Ben at Our Community Music Centre a call.

Benedict is a great teacher. Passionate about music, he infuses his students with energy as he guides them to a deeper understanding of the craft of guitar playing. He is clearly a musical heavy weight in terms of his theoretical knowledge but he explains things so they're easy to understand for students of any background (including beginners). I'd recommend him to anyone wanting to learn or improve their skill set. Great value too. Unlimited classes with the monthly and yearly passes. Only teacher in town offering such a deal.
