Dr. Cletus Okonkwo

PATIENT FOR 3 YEARS - DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME/MENTAL HEALTH. You are truly just another number to this guy. After 3 full years seeing him once a month he still could not remember or let alone say my first name. Dr. O doesn't care why/how you're feeling, he just adjusts/feeds you more medication and kicks you out after 10 minutes MAX. From the start he has been very impersonal and cold/bland, he has never asked about my past or current life. Don't even get me started on how incompetent the young receptionist with long dark hair is either. They will never pick up your phone calls during open" hours so unless you make a follow up appointment right after

Dr. Okonkwo was helpful in letting me try some different medications to help me find the right dosage for the issues I have been having. I found him to be very nice, friendly and easy to talk to. He was able to confirm the diagnosis that I went to him for after getting the information he requested.

Dr. Okonkwo literally saved my life. I met him in June 2016 and he has been treating me ever since. I am bipolar and my mental health got so bad that during my pregnancy he saw me every week. Sometimes more if I needed it. After I had my daughter everything went down hill big time. He again saw me at least once a week for the first year. He is the only psychiatrist to ever agree to help me get on safe medication so I could have a child. I was married for 10 years and wanted a family for so long. But all the drs I saw kept me on medication unsafe for pregnancy so I couldn't have a baby. Finally I met dr Okonkwo and he changed me to lithium. I had been suicidal for years before I met him. I honestly feel like him helping change my medication saved my life. He calls my daughter his miracle girl because of how bad things got after my pregnancy. I will forever be grateful for dr Okonkwo.

Very nice and knowledgeable gentleman. Felt very comfortable in my appointment.The automatic appointment system causes confusion.

This man was a God send to me. I have 8 different psychiatrists. I kept telling all the others that there is something wrong and that they aren't getting it right. For several years I was a guinea pig. I had another episode and went to the psycheward emergency. I screamed and yelled at Dr. O as I take a million pills that did nothing for the issue I was having. He listened, and told me I was missed diagnosed several times and set me up with a medication that changed me. It made me feel like a normal human being again. I like that he has a sense of humor.

Dr. O. is a knowledgeble psychiatrist with an absolutely wonderful personality! One of the best patient experiences I have ever had! My appointments are on time and always productive... He is well prepared when I meet him too. I highly recommend him!

I was recommended to Dr. Okonkwo by my family doctor for a psych consult. He was incredibly informative, took time to not only listen to me but explain things thoroughly and made me feel overall very comfortable during the meeting. I found the administrative staff to be friendly and accommodating. Overall, I had a lovely experience and would definitely recommend him to others.

I find Dr. Okonkwo and his staff very supportive and kind hearted.Dr. Okonkwo takes the time not just to find out how you as an individual is doing but also your family, which is important because they are your biggest supporters.

If I could give 0 stars I would. Dr Okonkwo is the worst doctor I have ever had provide care for me. I reached out for an appointment to say that I was struggling tremendously and believed that my medications need to be adjusted. Their response was that I owed a no-show fee for missing a phone appointment. I missed 1 call and returned it almost immediately after and no one picked up. I asked if the doctor would be willing to waive the fee because I had just lost my job. Their response was to discharge me from the practise altogether saying that because I could not pay the fee I needed to follow up with my family doctor. I never said I could not pay it just asked for an exception and some compassion. In addition throughout the years I was under his care, several times when I expressed my symptoms he would ask me so what do you want to do?" as if I'm supposed to know the answer or just 'pick what I want to do' with my medications that are responsible for seriously altering my brain chemistry. He often refused or made a problem of providing me with medical notes which I needed for school or work. Just really really below even a subpar level of care."

I was never the biggest fan of him Dr. Okonkwo, (nor his front desk staff), but once he started telling me what I should do about a physical medical condition that I have that he knows nothing about, I knew I needed to find someone else. It’s not a great feeling to have your psychiatrist spouting out fairly well known myths about your condition to treat it. I’ve also yet to find a psychiatrist in the area who knows anything about adhd.
