Nanaimo Airport
Regional airport serving Nanaimo and the Mid-Isle region. Has been expanded and redeveloped to bring in jet traffic during the summer months.Has a small coffee and souvenir shop in the main building. The main building isn't of a significant size with a small baggage area.Bags are tagged at the counter but you will have to take it to the X-Ray machine for it to be checked.Passenger lounge is modern and comfortable. No concessions other than a few snack and drink machines.

I wrote this comment to share my recent bad experience and call on the relevant authorities to pay attention to the rights and interests of passengers. I am talking about customs inspection, a process that should have been to ensure safety, but sometimes excessive abuse has turned into unreasonable harassment of passengers.Recently, I encountered a completely meaningless and unreasonable customs inspection during a trip. I deeply respect the importance of customs agencies, because they are an important part of protecting national borders and passenger safety. However, this experience made me feel very frustrated and confused. When I entered the destination country, I was arranged for an intensive inspection process. Although I provided valid documents and travel documents, the customs officers continued to repeat my questions and seemed to have no good reason to doubt my identity and intentions. This way of treatment completely ruined my travel experience.I think such unreasonable customs inspection harms the rights and interests of passengers and has a negative impact on the tourism industry. Travel is a pleasant experience. We hope to feel friendly and respectful while exploring the world. However, such a process makes us feel afraid and uncomfortable, and undermines our willingness to go to our destination. Therefore, I do hope the relevant authorities to take measures to ensure the rationality and fairness of the customs inspection process. This includes providing training to improve the professional performance of customs officers and the courtesy of passengers. A reasonable and effective inspection process should be based on intelligence and risk analysis, not on discrimination or random selection of passengers. In addition, transparency is also very important. “Customs agencies should explain to passengers the reasons and purpose of inspection.”We need to establish a friendly and respectful travel environment, so that every traveler can enjoy a safe and comfortable travel experience.I hope that the tourism industry and government authorities will work together to ensure the fairness and rationality of the customs inspection process through communication, training and supervision mechanisms. Only in this way can we create a more friendly and inclusive tourism environment, so that every traveler can enjoy a carefree journey.Let‘s work together to inject more respect and humanity into the tourism industry, so that every trip can become a good memory. With all my respects.

The nicest airport I've ever been in. Small and cozy but departure lounge is clean and spacious. Wifi and charging stations work well. All of the staff are incredibly kind and friendly. Some of the best views from a departure lounge. The only thing it needs is a craft beer bar&grill. After security it's only vending machines.

Nice little Airport with direct flights to Calgary, Edmonton, etc. Checked luggage, went through security with ease. Not very many passengers so that helps expedite the processes. Very clean airport both the lobby and washrooms. Main service providers are Westjet, Canada Air. Airport is only 12 mins out of Nanaimo. Very good overall experience.

Friendly and helpful staff help to check you in and guide you through security without fuss. It's a tiny airport but that just means little to no queueing and plenty of seating. Good connections to Vancouver and Calgary and a handful of other destinations. I wish they'd start doing flights to Seattle again.

This is a nice and well kept tiny little airport. Security and baggage was a bit odd. I cannot say I've ever had to take my own check bag to security and then wait while it was scanned before.Car rental areas are not staffed unless they know you have a pickup scheduled. If you are hoping to get a car last minute, that won't happen. If you are dropping off a car, be prepared to drop the keys in a box and complete the self drop-off forms. The departures waiting area has a handful of food and drink vending machines but nothing else. It would be nice to see at least at little store or coffee shop here.Boarding wise, there are no real gates to speak of just numbered doors. I think every flight here is a Dash8/Q400 or smaller which means boarding right on the tarmac via the plane's stairway. This does make for faster boarding as they can use both the front and rear stairs.

Very small airport. Everything was Clean when I went. Very easy to check-in and very fast to go through security. Be aware, there are only vending machines after security. You will have to walk outside in order to get in the plane.

All the staff are very friendly, and it’s a smooth and efficient little spot. You could toss a baseball from one end and hit the other, so there’s really not much more to it than that! Clean facilities, newer terminal, perpetually late Air Canada flights.

The renovation from a couple years ago has made the terminal area comfortable and the process of getting through security is more convenient than ever before.

From a general aviation pilot perspective, nice airport but not too general aviation friendly unless one is based on the field. There is little information as to where to park light aircraft for either short or long term. Online shows flex" parking along the north edge of the terminal apron but apparently this is only available with prior permission. It is difficult to find our not only that permission is required
