Owner is friendly and was able to accommodate us last minute. Mattresses are very comfy memory foam. Near the railway but couldn’t hear the train from inside.

On our cross country move from Winnipeg to Toronto, my dad and brother - who were driving separately in a U-Haul - stopped at Voyageur Motel to rest for the night. The rest of our family, with my dog, arrived later that evening in our SUV. Upon seeing my dog, immediately, the motel owner and his wife were hostile towards us. I waited with my dog and brothers outside on the stairs while my dad went into reception to book a second, pet-friendly room for the rest of our family. The motel owner berated and yelled at my dad, falsely accusing us of letting my dog into the non-pet-friendly room. He refused to hear my dad, who politely tried to explain that our dog did not enter any room and even offered to pay a higher rate for a second room. The motel owner refused, saying that we could do whatever we wanted in the room we had already booked and paid for but that he would not let us book a second room under any circumstances. We decided to leave it and left for dinner. At around 11:30pm we returned to the motel. My brothers and parents went to sleep and I decided to sleep in the car with my dog. However, I needed the bathroom and it was unsafe to leave my dog out alone as there were several drunk people loitering in the parking lot. I let my dog wait inside the room by the door while I used the bathroom. The moment we stepped in, the motel owner’s wife ran up the stairs and banged the door loudly, yelled at us, demanded we leave, and insulted my dad while he was trying to deescalate the situation. After my dog and I went into our car, the motel owner and his wife went back up to the room, and while my brothers and mom were sleeping, his wife kicked the door open, switched on the lights, yelled at them to leave, and continued hurling insults. My dad tried to deescalate, begging for respect, that he would pay to have us accommodated properly, and that by refusing to let us book a second room, the motel owners effectively left us with no choice. Incredibly distressed and traumatized, we decided to continue on our road trip and drive through the night - putting our lives in grave danger. We have never been so humiliated and disrespected. Even if wrong, no guest should be berated, insulted, and have a door of a room they paid for kicked down and while they’re sleeping in bed. We were exhausted, drained, and feared for our well being. Luna is my service dog in training, she helps me cope with my anxiety and ADHD. I understand dogs are not welcome everywhere and respect business owners’ wishes. At no point did we ignore or disrespect the motel owners or their rules. We immediately faced hostility and given no chance to explain ourselves.

Travelling from London Ontario by car, taking the Canadian route to Thunder Bay. This was back in September and never got to writing a review.Reflecting on our trip and how this motel helped create a great experience! It was important we had a good rest for the week. This motel offered a peaceful space with an EXCELLENT bed. The service was fantastic and the man at the front was knowledgeable, sharing restaurant choices and information about the area! We did go to those restaurants and his recommendations were great! THANK YOU!The wifi was amazing too! We had a great stay and referred a friend who later came to the voyageur to stay for a week. She had a great experience as well!Thank you again for being so great and making our stay better!

We didn’t have great internet service about 4 hours away so instead we called to book a room and the gentleman told us they would keep us one, we got there and when we walked in (the smell of weed was pretty prominent) the younger guy was confused and the older gentleman came in a couple minutes later with the worst PR telling us that we must had called somewhere else and he didn’t have any rooms. This was easily the worst place on our 3 week vacation from Vancouver Island to Ottawa. Other than that the area isn’t really that great either so I’m kinda glad we didn’t stay there, instead we ended up 45 minutes east at the fantastic Red Rock Inn in Red Rock Ontario.

Owners were somewhat friendly. Nicely renovated room for an ok price. New comfortable bed. No temperature control in the room though. A wifi router in every room is a bonus! Just wish there was a coffe pot in the room.
