Tara Shanti Accommodation & Retreats

This summer was my second stay at the Tara Shanti and just as enjoyable and comfortable as my first (during Covid). It is the perfect place to unwind and relax. The best part is that it is so quiet and peaceful. Maggie and Gord are wonderful and gracious hosts who communicate very well with the guests. The rooms are very nice, with comfortable beds and private bathrooms and very clean. The large shared kitchen has everything you need when you like to bring your own food, prepare a meal. The large deck overlooking the lake and see the glacier is the perfect place to enjoy eating your breakfast or read a book. Do stay longer if you can. Which I intend to do next time!

Our stay was marvelous! We stayed here for Canada Day for few days and enjoyed the hot (+32 to +36C) weather which was just perfect for us to spend time at the nearby beach swimming in the cold lake and kayaking. We stayed in the Blue Room with a view of Kokanee glacier, and the rest of the rooms have very nice views of the nature. It was very peaceful at the time of our stay as it was the first days after the Covid restrictions were removed. This place is very welcoming with a relaxing atmosphere. The shared kitchen and the guest/living room/studio on the first floor is very spacious and cozy. We felt welcome and as is we were at our own cottage or at home. This place is in close proximity to lake beaches, walking distance to a ferry to Nelson (and the ferry is free!), and there are a lot of other family activities and places to visit that we put on our list for a future stay. If you are planning your escape in the nature with yoga and meditation this is the place to be! Maggie, the owner also offers yoga classes, as there is a yoga studio, so you just need to confirm the time of the classes before you come to fit it into your schedule.

Maggie and Gord were wonderful hosts. The views are amazing, and the location is ideal. And a visit to Crawford Bay to support the local artisans and to eat at the Black Salt Cafe is a must!

We had great week at Tara Shanti. It is beautiful place to relax, convenient location to explore/hike/swim or just chill on patio. I highly recommend it to anybody looking for quiet place surrounded by nature.

If you are looking for some outdoor pursuits or a quiet, relaxing holiday where you can rejuvenate your mind and body, this is the place for you. The peaceful setting on Kootenay Lake is stunning, and hosts, Maggie and Gord are warm and accommodating. They will look after every detail to make your stay perfect and comfortable, and are extremely knowledgeable about the area. Spacious and private guest rooms, with a number of common areas to enjoy, plus a complete kitchen if you wish to prepare some of your own meals. The delicious breakfasts are healthy and hearty to keep you going for whatever your day has in store. We will definitely return to Tara Shanti.

This is a very calm and beautiful place to stay. Rooms were so clean and spacious. We had a great view of Kokanee Glacier and the lake from our room window and it was so refreshing to wake up to. The kitchen was also very clean and we had eveything what we needed there. The owners of Tara Shanti, Maggie and Gord, were very nice people and we really enjoyed their company. Nice place to relax and spent some peaceful time at. Highly recommned.

We LOVED our time at Tara Shanti! Maggie and Gord are excellent hosts, extremely thoughtful and accommodating. We enjoyed a delicious breakfast with coffee on the deck overlooking the water after a peaceful night sleep in a comfy bed. We only wished we had booked more time to stay at this magical retreat. We will definitely be back!

I LOVE staying at Tara Shanti where I just returned from my 6th annual stay. Maggie and Gord are wonderful, thoughtful hosts who provide quick responses for any questions you may have. They have a large, well equipped kitchen for guests. There is a huge deck with great mountain views where I can enjoy my meals or just hang out. I especially like their really comfortable beds. Lots to see and do in the area. Highly recommend staying at Tara Shanti.

Colorful wildflowers and the scent of the forest greet you upon arrival at this lovely B & B. Tara Shanti is a gem! We appreciated having use of a well equipped kitchen to prepare our picnic lunches prior to hiking. A glass of wine was enjoyed on the front deck while taking in the spectacular view of the lake and Kokanee Glacier. Breakfasts are wholesome and delicious and make use of locally sourced ingredients. The common areas are warm and welcoming , as are hosts Maggie and Gord. I am already planning a return visit next year!J. Hope

TheTara Shanti provides a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The rooms are clean and well appointed. We were upgraded to a room looking out to the Glacier. Gorgeous! The roaring fire in the spacious living room was a great spot to relax at the end of the day.Our hosts were helpful in organizing our stay, informed us of possible delays with the ferry and flexible with breakfast times.The breakfasts were fabulous, just what we needed to start the day. Nutritious, delicious and generous in serving and style. Lots of attention to detail, using fresh, organic products.We will highly recommend the Tara Shanti to others!
