Joan Point Park
The extension from Cable Bay trail.A sometimes narrow, single track, along the edge of the shore, some steep drops, cliffs, roots, and rocks but the wildlife viewing is seldom disappointing with otters, seals, sea lions, bald eagles, herons, kingfishers...and occasionally (but very rare) orca. The tidal surge through the narrows is always entertaining to watch boats come through.Trail head parking can be crowded during the summer, especially on sunny weekends.

Easy walk about 6km, about an hour and half to do. Sometimes there can be sea lions at Dodds Narrows. Great trail for families.

Less than 1.5km trail but the chances to see the seals are pretty high. We saw three on our late afternoon hike .

Joan Point Park
Nice hike along the shore to an open rocky area near the lighthouse where you can watch logs, boats and occasional sea lions speed through the rapid current at Dodds Narrows. It’s fun to sit for a while and watch the the current speed by. See “Cable Bay Nature Trail” in AllTrails

Good hike in and out! From Vancouver Island at the end of the trail you are overlooking Dods Narrows towards Mudge Island!

Such a lovely spot! Great to watch whales and take your pup for a walk. Never super busy and fairly easy walk.

Across from the end of cable bay trail walk about 1 km or so along a narrow rock path, a bit of overgrown bushes in the way, but you reached the end when you see a mini light house with a solar panel on it, a island across the way with fast moving aka dodge narrows and cables hanging above.
