The staff on 7.4 are highly complacent, leaving my mother to sit in her own matter for over three hours is completely unacceptable! At 84, she has mobility issues, and called the nurse for assistance and was made to wait! Things need to start changing otherwise there be repercussions. Get off your lazy arses and get the job done! But in a timely manner, think of seniors and those requiring assistance not three hours wait!

I'm currently in the QE2 awaiting surgery, I have been here over a day at this point and have not received an update on delays for the surgery , or food and trying to get an update on either has proven impossible. I will say the nurses have been polite and professional but it seems even they don't have any answers. ( now at 8 pm they tell me surgery is tomorrow at the earliest, and oh yes all the food services and shops that sell food are now closed so no food for you....)

I experienced a nightmare here a few years ago (pre-pandemic), which I'm finally ready to share. First, I went to emergency with severe abdominal pain, waited six hours just for the doctor to do nothing but suggest antacids. I returned days later with a note coming from my own family doctor, which stated that I needed EMERGENCY SURGERY (as he quickly and accurately diagnosed me). But when I went again to the hospital, the doctor let me writhe in agony for hours while he would periodically enter the room, scratch his head, and conclude that nothing was wrong with me and that it was all in my head. This whole time, I could do nothing but politely and plainly explain my symptoms to him. I was helpless. (And where was the note from my family doc!?) He even smugly suggested that I go home (where I would have died that night). Things got even worse with that particular doctor, and later, some nurses. (Stories that are too long and private to describe here, lasting right to the very end of my time in this funhouse-of-horrors.) I left a couple of days later, miraculously post-surgery, which was like being tossed onto a conveyor chopping block and spat out the other end.

Honestly I was impressed and gladdened by the level of service the emergency room provided. I used the new NS Telehealth website for my issue, since I am one of the people on the waiting list for a primary care doctor. The Telehealth response was to go to the emergency room, they thought I might have a blood clot in my leg. I went to QEII at noon on a Friday. Was admitted, waited, had bloodwork done, that was analyzed, had an ultrasound done, and they determined that no, I did not have blood clot. Whole thing took about 4 hours, which was well worth it. Everyone was kind, friendly and professional. Thank you to the staff at QEII!!! You guys are doing it right!!!! :-)

Emergency is overfull, the doctors are not thourough, some people are not being taken seriously and being sent home, the lack of empathy in that area of the hospital is abysmal and the wait times are horrible. I would give a 1 star or lower for that area of the hospital. On the other hand, in the minor procedures area, I am giving ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ because of the wonderful patient and calming bedside manner of the neurologists and the nurses that we there to help me. Shout out to Lucas, Kathy, Dr. Jackson-Tarlton and Dr. Bibic.

These guys work hard under extremely stressful conditions and take a lot of rudeness and drama from the people they serve. I feel incredibly fortunate to have them there, and have always been impressed with the care I've received, ESPECIALLY given the conditions they work under. Yes, once in a while you get a grumpy one or a snotty doctor. These are HUMANS, after all, and this job breeds burnout. Not only that, these guys specialize in protecting your health, not your ego. If you want someone to charm you, go pay $100K for your care in the US. And when was the last time you got better service from some person in a comfy chair at your insurance company? Under the circumstances, I'm impressed with our healthcare professionals. Also, they are EMERGENCY professionals, NOT a family doctor replacement, so don't go there expecting that kind of long term service. If you have a medical history with a recurring issue, you need longer term care with a specialist in that problem, not someone who specializes in immediate care. In ER the goal is to get you stabilized. They don't have the time, the resources or the training to solve longterm problems. If they make you wait, it's because someone else was in more immediate danger than you, and if that causes you lose or pain, it's unfortunate, but it's not because they are slacking off.

They scammed me of $3000(for two visits by scam) . I had a small allergy for which treatment is not really necessary . But if I have my insurance I thought I will go. I don’t know the expiry of it.They lied to me that my insurance pre covered my bill and I have taken the emergency walk-in. I asked explicitly about its validity and anything I need to pay. Even though they already have my insurance linked to my profile. They said we have linked and everything is covered you don’t have to pay. They sent the bill to my house after 1 week. I was shocked to see the bill of $3000 I was actually broke without any job. It landed me in a big trouble.Don’t go to this hospital until it’s absolutely life threatening or get scammed.I’ll update this review if I get any help.

The nurses and doctors were extremely kind and comforting in the ER. I was checked in and seen by a nurse and a doctor within 20 minutes of entering the building. They ensured that I did not leave the ER until I had received the best treatment possible. Overall 10/10 experience. I will go back to this ER if I ever need to again.

No antibiotics prescribed for an exposed skull wound on My head that needed 8 stitches and took them 8 hours to finally sew me up.Also took them 8 hours to give me any pain medication for a bad nightstick fracture. Now it's infected and I have yet to hear from them with a follow up. Do yourself a favor and go to IWK or any other hospital.
