The guy with the dryer knob issue:Nice people are hard to come by in kawartha lakes but the gentlemen at Hometown beat that narrative, the day i visited, with their professionalism, well spoken customer services and kindness. It's a solid 5 stars for me.. keep up the good work gentlemen..

Owner is knowledgeable, and easy to work work. We had an issue with a fridge we bought and within warranty time. He was willing to do whatever was best for us to make it right, giving us suggestions on a quick fix" . He was right and now no issues with the fridge. Price was very fair and we were overall quite happy with the transaction."

I contacted Hometown Appliance on May 5, 2014, to repair a leaking dishwasher. I was told a repairman would be out the next morning. On May 6, the repairman arrived, and to my surprise he did not remove his dirty work boots when entering my home.I had removed the kick plates and showed him where I thought the leak was coming from. He said he would have to remove the unit to investigate further. He had no protective material for the floor, and I had to find some old cardboard so that it would not damage my kitchen cork floor. We worked together to remove the unit, which included detaching the water intake pipe. When it was removed, it was obvious that the leak was coming from a vent on the left side of the unit. He seemed unfamiliar with this particular model, and had to figure out how to remove the vent. When removed, he said that there was a build up of calcium from the water around the seal, and this was causing the leak. He cleaned up the deposits on the dishwasher and the seal, and was about to put them back when I suggested that maybe we should put some grease around the seal. He had none, and asked me if I had some Vaseline. I got him some and he put it on the seal. He then pushed the unit back under the counter, and we had a lot of trouble getting it back in its original position, leveled and centered. I had suggested we try the washer before finalizing the installation, but he continued to reinstall without testing. When it was back in place (sort of), he reconnected the water to the shut-off valve, and I noticed that the shut-off valve was leaking now. He said this was because the water was under pressure and would stop leaking once the washer was running (huh?!? It's always under pressure!). The washer was only partly through its cycle, and he prepared my bill - asked how I would pay, and when I said with a credit card he said he would have to charge me tax. He left while the washer was still in its cycle leaving me to watch and ensure it was not leaking. After he left, I had to work with my wife to reinstall the unit back properly as it was originally.Despite having the leak fixed (I hope it will last), I was not impressed with this service. He did not have proper tools (a thin spanner would have helped with the leveling pads; a wire brush would have helped to properly remove the calcium bulidup). I would not call them again, and would not recommend them. I shudder to think of what would have happened if I was not there to help him out.

Terrible service. Sold me a used dryer that nearly started a fire in my house! Sparked and blew the breaker when I tried to start it. Charged me a crazy price and then wouldn't stand by it. Might as well have called me a liar.

Worst so called business I've ever delt with. For starters the place on queen st looks worse than going to any dump. The guy there will readily call the appliance you have a piece of sxxt. Also no new parts all used and from old appliances. This place should be shut down. Don't spend money there you may regret it.

We found the service staff at Hometown Appliance to be efficient, knowledgable and reliable. The technician who came out to check our washer was able to detect the problem on a Friday and then secured us the correct part needed and returned on Monday to install it.so all is well. We have bought an appliance from this store before and will continue to call them when needed for repair or purchase.thanks again Hometown for your great service. may 30,2016.
