Lunenburg Walking Tours

After doing some research of what to do in Lunenburg, we came across a haunted ghost walking tour. Paula was our guide and she was knowledgeable about the folklore tales, enthusiastic, and encouraged asking questions. The pacing between walking and story telling was perfectly balanced. I would recommend this tour for the history lesson and looking for a good thrill!

During a short visit to Lunenburg in October, I had the pleasure of taking two tours with Lunenburg Walking Tours. I arrived in the evening, and wanted to make the most of my time so I was thrilled to see that they offer a ghost tour of the town. Paula was our guide - and I was tickled to be guided by a fellow Brit who'd settled in Lunenburg! - and she was delightful - funny, kind and knowledgeable, happy to answer everyone's questions. The tour is a good mix of local history and spooky local legends, brought alive by the guide, the dark, and the stunning buildings. Giving guests a lantern to carry with them is a lovely touch and adds to the atmosphere. I enjoyed the evening very much and would advise that although it seems you'll be walking uphill, there are lots of breaks, and it's not strenuous at all. It was especially lovely to go into the famous church at night.The next morning, I took the Essential Lunenburg tour with Alison who was equally delightful! She is very engaging and knowledgeable, and there were plenty of funny anecdotes throughout the tour. She demonstrated a clear love for the beautiful historical buildings in the town and the history behind them. The walk followed a downhill route to the harbour, taking lots of stops along the way.If you're in Lunenburg for a short time, I strongly recommend this tour company. They are very friendly, knowledgeable people with a lot of love for their town and it's infectious. They helped me maximise the small amount of time I had to experience Lunenburg.

My husband and I did the Haunted walking tour with Liz last week. It was very enjoyable! Extra spooky points for the fog rolling in right before the tour started. We wish we could have done the Essential walking tour as well but timing didn't allow. Highly recommend anyone, any age, booking any of these fabulous tours!

I arrived in Lunenburg late and wanted to do something interesting and fun where I could learn a little about the historic town. Lynn was our guide, and she was awesome! She had so many interesting stories about Lunenburg's houses/buildings/cemetery. It was a great time overall!

June was a wonderful guide! We had a small group on a weekday in May. Highly recommend to get a taste of Lunenburg on Nova Scotia! We got to learn about the history and architecture of buildings in town from the top of the hill to the waterfront.

Colin was our guide. He was full of great historical information and added some comical relief. Perfect one hour tour hitting all the highlights of historic Lunenburg. Highly recommend!

Highly recommend this hour long tour. Our lovely guide Sally was enthusiasticly interesting sharing stories as we did the gentle walk taking in a couple of old churches, seeing the oldest house in Lunenburg etc and our final destination was the waterfront memorial to those lost at sea. Love this town.

Great way to be introduced to the town, it's history, and architecture. After the tour, they guide also offered some local recommendations for restaurants that we benefitted from during our stay. I would have given 5 stars but i felt that 20-30 min standing at the start point for the intro was too long. I would have prefered a quicker intro and then start walking for the remainder of the intro. We could have covered more ground, i found there was more standing than walking. I did however like the moment at the church where he allowed us to wonder and gave us an assignment to find different things then explained them to us at the end. More if those exploration assignments would have made to tour more dynamic. Overall it's deserving of a full 4 stars, since i do also feel we saw more than i initially expected to see and i felt alot more comfortable visiting Lunenburg because if the walking tour we started our visit with. My boyfriend gives it a 5 stars as he enjoyed tge slower pace and in-depth historical education. (Essentials Walking Tour. August 31st, 2022)

We signed up for the 1-hour Essential Lunenberg tour and thoroughly enjoyed learning about the history of this beautiful town. Our guide, June, was knowledgeable, prepared, comical, and an excellent communicator. The walk itself was a gentle, downhill route ending at the waterfront. We would recommend this tour as a great way to learn about those bits of history that make it come alive.

So much awesome information about the cutest town! The guide was a sweet baby angel. It was so rainy and cold and this was the coolest part of our trip.
