Location is awesome outside of Canmore and kind a getaway from the city life n crowd. If you are looking for lavish places it’s not for you. However, cabins are cute and small. Our cabin has two bedrooms, small living place including sofa bed and four chairs dining table and stove.I didn’t mind as I was visiting with my friends, so we had good time at the cabin.

We stayed for 5 days celebrating our 40th wedding anniversary. We loved our cozy little cabin! If your expecting posh, this isn't the place for you. This is an adorable little rustic log cabin. Was clean and comfortable. Our cabin had a full size fridge and a 2 burner hot plate (which we didn't need as we ate out), and a wood burning stove/fireplace which we used every night. Ian was very helpful and friendly and delivered our firewood every day!We ended up buying a blanket because we found the bedroom a tad chilly. We then discovered our last morning that the window was open a bit. Our fault for not checking!

For the price that my partner and I paid for it was not bad. Areas to improve? The Cabins themselves need some work. Damaged furniture bed doesnt fix the room. Heater under the bed might be a fire hazard. One of the lamps tends to freak out when used. Smell when you enter the cabin was odd. Shower was neither boiling hot or cold little too no in-between.Outside of the cabin itself was honestly unappealing, a little on the messy side. Even entering the Chalets seems a little ghetto. The fireplace was the nicest thing about the Cabin.

The cabins were in a state of disrepair with inadequate ventilation. The use of the word “rustic” to advertise these decrepit shacks is false advertising. Until the cabins are up to code—-they should not be rented out. We observed: slanted floors, screenless windows, a lack of windows, broken door handles, and large holes in the ground. The only positive element was the cleaning staff who did an incredible job of keeping the rooms tidy, however, they only clean the room on arrival and departure so not ideal for a longer stay.

Rooms where clean and service was excellent. Our dogs were welcome. Location was close to all service and attractions.

4 stars. Here's why, I have never stayed in a place that charges the full cost of the stay ahead of time. This caught me off guard. After staying there I understand a little more asto why. The check in check out is personless. I did get to speak to the new desk manager. I must say he did his absolute best to satisfy, he went above and beyond and made sure to accommodate every request he was able to. The maintenance staff on site were speedy and courteous. The cabin itself was everything i expected although lacked a little in kitchen cooking equipment. It couldve used a fresh roll of paper towels before a new giest checked in. It also needed a couple more pan options like a smaller frying pan and a baking sheet so that the oven could be ultilized. Oh i suppose i should mention i stayed in cabin #3. Otherwise a little maintenance on the doors inside the cabin would be usefull. Now for the reason i couldn't bring myself to 5 stars. The Owner/Manager" of the property refused under any circumstances to speak to a guest. I asked on more than one occasion to speak to management and was told repeatedly that management doesn't speak to guests. The owner of thos place should give his/her head a shake. Your clientel are the people who spread good or bad word about your business. Guest concerns should be a management priority. As an owner i would give YOU 1 star. Hopefully you treat your staff better than you do your guests. Because they are the only reason you're in business. Staff 5/5 Acommodation 4/5 Management .5/5 Stop being lazy and collecting your paycheque and make an effort."

Our experience with our 2 dogs was terrible. We were placed in cabin #20 initially- it felt like walking into a furnace. We were unable to cool the room with fans, as the only window with a screen had an opening at most 1foot x 2 foot. There was another slightly larger window, but with no screen, it could not be opened without dozens of mosquitoes entering the room. We were unable to spend any time in the room comfortably during the day due to the extreme heat. The cleaning staff we spoke to said they’ve been ignored when they repeatedly made management aware of the heat and ventilation issue in cabin 20. This is someone who spends max 30 minutes in the room while cleaning and finds it unbearable. It’s disgusting to expect paying customers to stay there.Clearly management is aware of the issue and chose to put us in cabin 20 regardless. The ventilation is absolutely not up to code (one tiny window with a screen that opens, one medium window without a screen that opens partway, another window in the bathroom painted shut). The loft space was unusable in the heat.We contacted Patty and Kristina with our concerns and were told that ‘the manager’ would not speak to us; they refused to refund us for the remaining 2 nights of our stay (we hoped to find alternate accommodations). They finally agreed to move us to cabin 18 which did have two larger windows on opposite walls that opened so we could get some ventilation. The heat was still oppressive but not uninhabitable like cabin 20.Cabin 18, though ventilated somewhat, was in a real state of disrepair. The bathroom door didn’t latch, the handle came off in my hand, the cabin’s floor was on a significant slant, it was ugly and bizarrely decorated with a motivational poster… It was evident that a sloppy coat of paint was recently applied in a weak attempt to mask some of the problems.Other guests arriving after us staying in cabin 17 were also dealing with windows without screens…It’s frustrating and disheartening that profit apparently comes before guest safety/ comfort at Park’s Gate Chalets. These cabins are rundown, hugely overpriced and worse, unsafe in warm weather.

Pros and cons. The location is obviously amazing as you are close to Canmore and Banff although not walking distance to much of anything and there are no walking trails, just the main road by the highway. We stayed here instead of our usual choice of Banff Gate Mountain Resort simply because Park Gate allows dogs. Bonus! Dog friendly, but as I said there aren't any great/safe places to walk the dogs around here at night before bed or in the morning before heading out and we've honestly found staying at hotels in Canmore better for the dogs. The property has SO MUCH potential but sadly has been let go. It's falling apart, not being well maintained, not even the very basics of running a business. There's a painful hand-painted sign slapped on a building for cans/recycling, the showers and bathrooms are extremely old and the shower heads leak badly, it is extremely cold in the bedrooms (so much so even our dog wouldn't sleep on the floor! haha, no he is not a wimpy dog but it was darn chilly in the bedrooms), the mugs are from Ikea (fine and dandy) but there aren't even matching cutlery sets or cutlery holders that fit in the shelf where they have been placed (which would not cost much if you're willing to buy from Ikea), and there are only 4 utensil sets for a cabin that sleeps up to 6 people. Of course it is also sad that you can't actually use the fireplaces but we understood why if people don't know how to safely use these.Overall this is really more of a hostel/backpacking motel than the website/photos suggested but was really cute and with a little investment to repair these cabins they could truly be a quality accommodation again. The people running the place (email/phone calls) are really lovely too! Which is always such a breath of fresh air. Just be sure you know what you are renting before you commit to your stay.

We loved our stay here with our two dogs! We even tried to stay one more night but it was all booked up. First I'll say, it is rustic, you can't be expecting a luxury hotel here. But we love that and found it very cozy & comfortable. It was also super clean, decorated cute and the kitchen has everything you need. There were fans in all the rooms and screens on the windows. Wifi worked great. Beds were so comfortable! The new management has excellent customer service. We will definitely be back!
