Hawthorn Dining Room & Bar
Showed up here last minute, with no reservations. They graciously squeezed us in, warning us that the table had a reservation coming in in an hour. Staff were easy; we wanted to quickly order, enjoy a night cap, then head out. They accommodated, took our order, and let us eat and drink in peace. We listened to a pianist perform Christmas melodies live as we sat in a comfortable booth directly in front of the stage.The ambiance was dim, warm, romantic.The food was just right. Medium rare steak made to perfection.Their menu offered nothing warm, which I was craving, so they gave me a few options. I picked blueberry tea.I thoroughly enjoyed me visit here. Five stars for sure.

Food was amazing, their open-faced feature sandwich was just the perfect combination of a cheese I couldn't identify, roasted tomatoes, and spring greens with a balanced ginger-carrot soup on the side. The chocolate brownie was forgettable.I also had their buttermilk fried chicken burger, which was juicy and flavourful but not impressive, with the fries and ketchup leaving a lot to be desired.Service was a little slow and I liked the ambience. Price is on the higher end but not exorbitant, especially for hotel lobby food.

This was the best place to have a birthday! My friends and I had their afternoon tea as a celebration. It was filled with joyous surprises, happy faces, and lots of laughter. They made a birthday girl feel like a princess.The atmosphere in this place is surreal. You often feel like you walked into a massive European castle with it's high ornate walls, glittering chandeliers, and specially-themed décor. A person could walk in and swear they were somewhere in an enchanted land.The staff here were absolutely super to us. They welcomed us to our table which was in a wonderful spot right next to the fireplace. We all got a free glass of champagne for each of us (a bigger one for the birthday girl), and an extra dish of the best ever chocolate mousse with a sparkler that a girl could ask for. All of it was such a wonderful surprise and made our birthday party a success. Our server was super nice to us. She was happy to see us, made us laugh, and she knew the menu backwards, forwards, and sideways. She was most impressive and deserves a raise if not huge credit.Last but not least is the food. As my friend next to me said, Magnificent!" And he was absolutely right but I would like to add

Enjoyed brunch with a few friends here on the weekend. Gorgeous decor! I had the avocado toast and a tea. Next time, I’ll have to go for high tea. They were setting up when we left and it looked so cute

Afternoon tea review: Truly the BEST afternoon tea in Calgary. Yes, it costs more than most, but it is worlds away from anything else you'll find in the city -- from the tea selections (divine!), to the delectable desserts and savories. The presentation is superb -- everything looks so pretty and beautiful. And, of course, you have the most amazing service at the Fairmont -- our server, Julie, was superb and made my birthday celebration a memorable one. Thank you, Julie - you are the best!

Tried it for the first time since moving to Calgary, it does not live up to it's hype unfortunately. We ordered $250+ in food and all 3 of our beef tenderloins were supposed to be medium rare and it was beyond dry and the manager told us that it was a little less than medium rare??? I've eaten at many steakhouses and I'm pretty sure it wasn't medium rare. The 2nd round of steaks came out again after complaining about it and they overcooked it just a bit still, we gave up because we waited 30-35mins for the first round of steaks and 20-25 mins for the 2nd round and were too hungry to bother having them re-do it but atleast the sauce was good, I don't know why this restaurant cut the steaks in half, of course it's going to dry out. The service is SUPER slow as well. It took about 15 mins to get my cocktail and another 15 to get the bill when there wasn't even that many guests and it was a Sunday too. The birthday girl got a cute little mousse cake with a sparkler on it for her bday by the restaurant, it tasted very good until the crust on the bottom of it had a very crunchy dirt like bite that was very similar to eatting an eggshell on one side of the dessert. Overall, it's a cute place but if you don't like your steaks overcooked and slow service with a pricy bill then this place isn't for you. Will never come back here again after that and i'd recommend The Keg instead.

This was our first time at the Palliser Hotel. It was my spouses birthday and she really wanted to try the desserts. Our server, Renata, was great. She was helpful and friendly. We ordered a few specialty beverages and desserts. There was a live jazz performance, piano and singer. It was quite loud through the house speakers. It made it hard to hear each other. There was also a large group at the far end of the restaurant who let their small children just run around unsupervised. That was quite disruptive. Overall, the food and drinks were delicious. But the ambiance left a little to be desired. Please turn down the music just a bit. Maybe ask parents to control the children so they’re not running around unsupervised. We will be back!! We had a good time.

Hawthorn Dining Room & Bar
I only had 30 min before a show at Jack singers concert hall. The server knew from the front even though I didn’t mention it. The atmosphere is great as usual. Compared to other fairmont, it is smaller but less crowded. The meal was great and I was able to finish on time.
