Thomson In The Park Funeral Home and Cemetery

We used Thompson in the Park for my father’s funeral in 2014. They made the experience incredibly easy & showed us immense compassion and kindness.When my uncle passed in September of 2022, we came back to Thompson and again had a wonderful experience.Their compassion and thoughtfulness will never be forgotten.We appreciate how much care they put in and how they truly make you feel like family.Thank you so much for all you do.

They promise every detail remembered, they take notes, they let a grieving family depend on their expertise and yet they didn’t do a single thing correctly. They were disorganized, they completely forgot things, their static livestream camera isn’t focused on the speakers, and they played the wrong song. They are very sorry. That doesn’t help, they had one chance. They failed.

My family did not feel pressured into spending more then we were comfortable with. Our funeral director was honest about cost and willing to help us find something that was within our budget. We felt so comfortable and at ease with Lorraine and the team.

Had a very negative experience. Would give zero stars if I could. Consider going somewhere else for the price and service.Had my father's service carried out by them. First time we have lost someone so we were quite new to the process. Had a phone call and an in-person appointment with a representative who was initially quite helpful, we explained our situation to them, they explained the process and requirements.We knew it was quite a big amount we were paying but had a relief that our loved one would be handled well and family outside of Winnipeg would be relived to see a good sendoff.All was fine and we proceeded forward.- The service was unfortunately quite restricted due to COVID, which is as understandable.- But the rep had no control over the service,- live video was not functioning well which was as the main reason we chose them,- the death certificate came 6-7 months after they placed the order. As explained to them, we needed the death certificate as soon as possible and we were told 6months is what we would expect. It shocked us when we called in to check with Vital Statistics the status of the death certificate and they said for 120$ a rushed order could be placed and it would get delivered in a couple days.- the distasteful remarks on tradition and culture by the rep only further confirmed that the funeral home staff were akin to sales person and only cared about making the sale.The funeral home tacks on useless charges and doesn't inform you what is required and the available options unless you ask. I would have accepted it, but given the kind of service that was carried out it is unaccceptable.

Nice facility with some friendly staff. I felt too many extras were suggested and the overall price was higher than expected. We also took issue with a $125 admin fee added to the contract, made worse by the fact we received two completely different explanations about what it was for. One staff member told us it was a standard admin cost on any purchase above $5000 (which is completely ridiculous when there is actually nothing required to process payment) while another told us it was for perpetual care of the cemetery. Either way, on a bill approaching $15 000, it was awful to add a sneaky fee that my sister luckily noticed and had removed. Some of the cost were also quite high, for example $500 for help compiling a slide show of pictures.

The Funeral Directors and staff at Thomson “In the Park” are of the highest quality and made the experience of losing and interring our loved ones so much more manageable than it otherwise could have been. All involved were helpful, compassionate and patient with all members of our family, and helped us manage our way through a two-year period of delay for our triple interment as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. We will always be grateful for the professionalism of the Thomson “In the Park” team, in particular Aaron Bowskill, and would recommend Thomson “in the Park” most highly to anyone requiring funeral and interment services. Caitlin & the staff made us feel like we were the only people that were getting a service done. They were always sensitive to our feeling & responded to any questions or requests in a timely manner.

Such a Beautiful funeral home and the staff were EXCEPTIONAL!! It made our hardest time in life so easy to get through...Cannot thank all of the staff enough for your Professionalism, Kind and Caring experience!!
