This is a fantastic restaurant. Been to the West and Downtown locations multiple times and the food does not disappoint. I would say the West location is a bit more family friendly. Serving staff is friendly and knowledgeable about the food and drinks and the West location has a cool bar" you can sit at and watch the kitchen if you prefer to sit there. The market always has great food as well. If you are looking for a restaurant for a date

Surprised to see an Italian family style dining restaurant in Calgary! The premise has the restaurant on one side and marketplace on the other. The tables in the restaurant are nicely spaced apart. There is a cooking pot right in the middle. Huge wine selection too.Overall food flavor is good and the ingredients are fresh. May be it was busy when I visited but some of the menu items could have been prepared better . The risotto was a bit undercooked. The mixed grill meat, particularly the chicken was overgrilled. Server very knowledgeable and friendly.

Loved it. I was fortunate to eat at Mercato Mission so I was excited to eat at Mercato again. The food was outstanding and consistent between the two restaurants. Amazing pastas and meat. The Negroni was spot on and great service. Definitely one of the best restaurants in Calgary. You can't go wrong, definitely will go back again when I visit Calgary.

The food here was top notch. The pasta was cooked perfectly aldente and the flavor was truly out of this world. Dessert was also spectacular, which is to be expected when you have a pastry chef making them.The service was even better than the food was and we had an amazing time.10/10 would definitely recommend for a night out with excellent food and service, though it is a bit on the pricey side

The food was excellent. I would return for the pasta.When I made the reservation I made a point of indicating it was an anniversary. It happened to be a special family meal for our 20th wedding anniversary. Not only was it not acknowledged, we also weren't asked if we were celebrating anything. $350 for a weeknight dinner for four is a lot without impeccable attention and service. Our wait staff were polite and helpful but, not overly attentive or exceptional. I just expected more.

Had a wonderful lunch today! The food was fabulous and the servers were cheerful! We will definitely come back again! They also have a great selection of foods to take home! Everything from pasta dishes, pizza (including pizza dough, deli meats, sauces and cheese)and desserts!

The mussels were the star of this dinner. The shrimp was well done but the sauce was a little sour. The octopus was a bit more sour than we expected as well and the cauliflower/kale dish was mouth puckeringly sour. The pasta was good, normally I'm not a gnocchi fan, but this one was nice and soft. Is it just me, or is the drink menu here extremely limited? Service was great, he was friendly and attentive and took the cauliflower off the bill.

Bad food/service, especially for the price. Ordered two pasta dishes and a salad. One pasta was delivered, then the salad then the second pasta in short order. When we mentioned to the waiter it’s not usual for the salad to come at the same time as the pasta he just smiled and nodded and walked away. Came back to check on us and see if we liked the food and we again mentioned we hadn’t tried the pasta yet as we were still trying to finish the salad and that we hoped the pasta wouldn’t be cold by the time we got to it, again he just smiled and nodded and then walked away. Finally got to the pasta and one was so salty we both took a few bites and stopped eating it. Asked the waiter to remove it as it was inedible and he tried to mansplain to us that carbonara is just a salty dish. We’ve both had it before, we know what it tastes like and it doesn’t taste like that. He removed and said he would talk to the manager. We saw him approach the manager and discuss something. He then proceeded to mostly ignore us for the rest of the night, talking to all the other parties at the bar and skipping over us each time. Got the bill and half of the cost of the one pasta was removed, that’s it. Over a $100 bill for essentially one pasta, one salad, two drinks and a poor service experience. Definitely would not recommend, not when this city is full of so many other excellent restaurants. Too bad-the Mission Mercato location is great.

Delicious food. Ambience was great too and we got to watch the chefs in action since we sat at the bar. Ordered the linguine and tagiatelle, and the pastas were fresh and had an al dente bite to it. Best part of the meal in my opinion were the mussels (cozze) loved the sauce that they were cooked in! Only thing that was subpar were the brussel sprouts. Expected a little more crispiness to it. Such a lovely experience overall.

MercatoWe have found Mercato west very inconsistent over the past few years and therefore we won’t be going back. We have sat in the dinning room and told we can’t order pizza as that’s not on the menu and only on the ‘pizza side’. We have sat in the pizza area and told we can’t order certain pastas as ‘that’s the dinning side’. Sitting on the pizza side we have seen other tables order muscles and asked about ‘that wasn’t on the menu’ yet they somehow got them. And all the food is made in the same kitchen as per the staff. The take out ‘timeframe’ changes every day and when asked about it ‘it’s whatever the kitchen decides’. We have called at 534 and told no takeout orders after 530 yet the restaurant is open till 9pm. The final straw was we order takeout at 6pm and picked up shortly before 7pm. On pickup restaurant was not busy AT ALL and in fact saw several employees standing around chatting, got home and 1 dish was wrong. When calling back now shortly after 7, we were told the corrections couldn’t be made as again ‘kitchen isn’t doing takeout after 7pm’. Nice the kitchen is so busy that they can continuously turn away business. Too bad, we enjoy supporting local restaurants in our area but this constant inconsistency isn’t worth the headache.
