The staff gave us great recommendations and we tried the fish and chicken tacos, and the fish ceviche. The food was very delicious.

Staff is super nice and the food is amazing. I recommend taking plates to share and a few drinks. If you are a big group or you are hungry, I recommend the Chef's taster (35$+ iirc), it provides a lot of varieties in the type of plates you get and you'll be full for sure. Note that you can make adjustments or request with this order (vegetarian i.e). One of my favorite resto in town :)

Fast and good service , delicious food and compostable takeout containers. What more could you ask for? The pozole verde soup and the cauliflower general Tao with tamarind, agave, coriander and garlic sour cream were delicious , as were the truffle mushroom cheese quesadillas I took to go. I’d come back to try the cauliflower taco :)

Having visited the Escondite in Old Montreal numerous times, my family and I were eager to experience the same ambiance and service at the Union location. However, our experience was far from our expectations.Upon our arrival at 5:30 PM, the restaurant had just opened and was relatively empty. Despite this, we were quickly informed that children were not allowed to dine inside at any time and were seated at the patio.The most shocking part of our visit was the lack of courtesy extended to us by the wait staff, who seemed indifferent to our presence. Upon inquiring if a quesadilla or any kid-friendly option was available or possible for my 13 year-old, we were dismissively told, “Um, yeah … so we don’t cater to kids.”The unfriendly and dismissive attitude, especially in such an empty establishment, was both surprising and disappointing. We left feeling as if our departure was a relief to the staff, simply because we had our kids with us. It should be noted that our kids are 11 and 13. Kids yes, but far from crying babies or curious toddlers.Our intent was to enjoy a fun, casual evening with tapas and tacos. We took our family instead, to The Keg, later in the night, with absolutely no issue.As mentioned, The Old Montreal location has always been a delight and a Montreal stop for my wife and I. However, this experience at the Union location has cast a shadow over our impression of Escondite as a whole.We understand that every establishment has its vibe, and perhaps Escondite Union is not geared towards families, but this was a 5:30 PM dinner reservation, not a busy bar at 10 PM. The inhospitable attitude coupled with the dismal patio setting left us feeling unwelcome.Based on this experience, it’s hard to imagine returning to any Escondite location anytime soon. I hope that management makes the necessary improvements to ensure a more welcoming and inclusive atmosphere for all patrons.

Somehow I took no pictures of the tacos which were the best part! Okay the drinks were also great and the bartender was incredibly friendly and helpful. It was a kind of eclectic mixing of foods, but everything tasted good (except maybe the ceviche—it wasn’t bad but it wasn’t what I expected as ceviche: it was kind of like guacamole with some fish in it).

4.5/5. Al pastor tacos: decent. Fried chicken tacos: not bad. Ribs: tasty, a tad pricy, small amount. Churros: good. Mezcal: enjoyed neat, served with orange slices dipped in sweet salty spices. Overall, good food though on the expensive side for what you are getting. Taco presentation on the messy side.

Extremely popular joint. It was hard to get a reservation on a Thursday night—loud, vibrant, and zestful crowd. Great wait staff. Portions are small tapas style. We ordered tacos, and they were one of the best tacos we have ever had, including in Mexico. I recommend it 100%.

This place is one of the best Mexican restaurants I've eaten at world-wide. The staff are friendly, the food is brilliant and decor is so perfectly matched to the dining experience.
