Taste Of Europe Deli
Tasty, tasty pierogies and cabbage rolls just like my mom's and grandmother's. I go weekly for the 5 pierogy combo that comes with a sausage, a cabbage roll and a bowl of kapusnyak.I keep trying to change my order and try something else but I can't.Oh, but I did have the 12 Polish sub once... I almost couldn't finish it."

I have only been here once (hence 4 stars instead of 5, want to get more samples before I go to 5) but enjoyed a very delicious hot red borscht (vegetarian!) and also some nice pierogies served with sour cream. I would like to go back often, but very sadly, it seems that the neighbors next door (a cannabis shop) are unhappy with their current amount of space and aggressively are pushing out what is the only true place in Victoria for Polish cuisine. I also found the owner to be nice and enjoyed talking to another Polish person who was in the restaurant and I had just met. At the suggestion of the kind owner, they sat with me and provided great company.

Love the cabbage rolls, love the perogies. Delicious food, great prices. Like eating at your Ukrainian/polish grandmas house

The pierogies contained a fluffy and delicious filling. They were topped with caramelized onions and fresh dill. One of the best lunches I've had in recent memory. We also bought some frozen ones to eat at home later, though as soon as we got back I had to boil up a few. I can say that the frozen pierogies tasted just as good as the fresh ones and are miles ahead of any you could find in the grocery store!I'll be coming back soon.

I really wanted to love this place. The perogies were homemade with good flavour. But the cabbage roll I had was lacking flavour and was a little too undercooked inside. It's a few hours later and I'm my stomachs not feeling that great and I fear the cabbage roll may be responsible. I would try this place again since it may have just been a dud cabbage roll. But I think next time I would stick to perogies and sausage.

I make sure to come for fantastic pierogies, cabbage rolls, and borscht every time I visit downtown Victoria. The new location may be difficult to find, it's in a cozy little shopping arcade next to the office building, look for the sandwich board!

I ordered 2 cabbage rolls and 3 potato pancakes. I waited for 20 min to get it. He takes one order, gets the pay, goes in the back and does whatever to get the order for the customer - only one customer at a time. Cost me $18.90. Got back to work and found I had 1 cabbage roll and 3 perogies. NOT what I ordered. I called the deli and the man told me that's not what I ordered. I hung up. He phoned my work and told me I had left by the time he brought the potato pancakes. It took me almost 5 min to make sure I had the two containers in my bag properly so nothing would spill. he said my pancakes were waiting for me. Lot of good that does. I will NEVER go back, the food may be good but the ethic is not an honest. Seriously if you go there, be sure to check your order before you leave. Especially as it is not cheap. Well … now it seems a challenge to try and post this review.

Food here was okay at best. I had the sauerkraut soup, which was my fav thing in the meal. It was warm, good taste. The pork schnitzel was a bit of a disappointment. It lacked in crispiness, and was tooooo salty. Potato dumplings were lacking in flavour and just felt gelatinous. Red cabbage was cold but okay. Was really hoping that this would fill part of the hole that the Rathskeller left behind. Sadly, it did not.It is clear by the response of the owner that he doesn’t care for customer feedback and rather attack reviews. From his response and reading the responses he has made to others, I would not ever return.Clearly there are better business owners in this city that would deserve our time, and purchases.

I had food at this deli when they were located on Douglas St. , it was just okay. Being Polish myself, I did not like the cabbage rolls. Pierogies were decent. The place always seemed empty, I know the owner has been blaming the pot shops around but it was empty even before those shops opened. The owner seems to attack anyone who does not agree with him. Just looking over the comments here there are a lot of negative and unprofessional replies from him.I found it interesting that the owner was running for city Mayor and his entire platform was based on attacking and eliminating" things. He blames everything and everyone for his failing business but himself. Sad."
