Don't bother getting a permit here, it takes years and they reject it. They love to give a hard time to individuals who truly want to renovate their homes after many years. They have unrealistic expectations and think that regular folks have all the money in the world to renovate irrelevant details within a home that is not structured to have the irrelevant details in the first place. Also, full of nepotism. Shameful how our tax dollars go to these little punks. The ego illustrated by employees is disgusting as well. Please tone down the GOD complex! thank you very much! Have a happy new year!

Mayor Siscoe is difficult to communicate with, doesn't listen or do anything. Very hard to get city to maintain their own grass. Just a figure head without any skillset.

Reviewing city hall is weird, kind of a necessary place for taking care of boring tasks. I got my marriage license, which is at least kind of exciting, the attendant was very polite and nice!

The building department is awful- more than a month to call me in to clarify a” few things” . I was then requested to provide an additional drawing for more information even though I pointed out all the information they needed in the drawings provided. I went home drew up what was asked and returned the next day in person to deliver the document. 3 weeks later I received my rejection email with no reason why. The next day I was first in line at 830 am to get answers. The reasoning was pathetic and nitpicking. A simple 1500 dollar project has now cost so far. 3000 for a needed survey - 1200 for stamped drawings and whatever a variance may cost even though I have no neighbours and tied into a 40 year old sunroom . No wonder people don’t apply for permits it’s a headache and there are way too many opinions involved. Trying to improve a home can be stressful now multiply whatever you anticipate by 100

The few times I have had dealings with City Hall, no matter the mayor, or latest administration, nothing changes.I notified City Hall that I witnessed a disabled person on a scooter having to use a very busy Glendale Avenue in late-February because businesses hadn’t cleared their sidewalks. Despite a number of enquiries to their “Citizens First” line for an answer (they figure if they ignore you, you’ll eventually go away) My own councillor has also been trying to find answers.Frankly, I find the attitude disgusting, inasmuch as this issue isn’t even about me, it’s about a disabled person forced to use Glendale Avenue on a busy Saturday afternoon in snow with cars swerving around them. It’s a wonder they weren’t hit.City Hall doesn’t seem to think this important enough to address, but you’ll be sure to find the virtue signalling at high volume on social media, to mislead the public into thinking City Hall cares about its citizens.I first enquired in late-February. It is now mid-April and I’m still awaiting some sort of acknowledgement that the businesses in question have been made aware that they should be clearing their sidewalks.Different administration, same attitudes.Update: Received letter by Canada Post from the mayor, dated April 24th. Apparently, Citizens First messages to me were met with error messages after March 2

Go on about the homeless . State of emergency. But tearing down the arena downtown that could hold hundreds of homeless. Guess they don't care that much

Nice place to come to pay your parking ticket and other things. There is a nice garden outside to come in the afternoons to sit and relax.
