Mountain View Motel & Cottages (The)

Love our little housekeeping cottage. Nothing fancy but charming setting, comfortable bed and all the necessities. Very nice people. Dinner in the restaurant was fine with very friendly service. And the live entertainment was actually great! Would definitely recommend.

Stayed in late June. Basic hotel with a pretty setting. Our room: larger than I expected; not overly clean (found hair on the bathroom floor, for just one example); tired decor; decent size; no coffee maker and can't get any until the restaurant on site opens, which was at 8 a.m. Friendly staff. Great location for exploring the Cabot Trail. The restaurant service was friendly, but mediocre, as was the food.

It's a ideal spot for a few places of interest. But the cottage we stayed was not well equipped. The dishes were dirty, we were missing comforter in a room. Doors are finnicky, the washroom door didn't have a latch or lock. No mobile network. WiFi network strength was very weak. Food at restaurant was good and choices were adequate. The staff were kind! :)

Stopped to eat lunch there. We had to wear bug spray to keep the black flies away. Friendly service and generous portions.

I had an emergency case of food poisoing and called here for a room and they were able to fit me in at the last minute.Not only were they so accommodating but the younger girl working the desk and the restaraunt made me feel so welcome while I was so sick. They let me check out an hour later while I waited for my party to arrive from a hike and I can't thank the staff who helped this past weekend enough.If i have to stay in the cape again I will absolutely be staying at the mountain view. The rooms are moderately priced but it is due to the season. The bed was very comfortable and my room had been recently renovated which made it feel very comfortable there is no fridges in the room but the motel provides ice and I'm sure if you asked they could keep something in the fridge for you.Thank you again.

This is kind of place where you should only think to crash. If you want to have a nice experience then don’t think about going to this place. So let me startI found bug in bathroom and on wall, but mattress was clean. There are no appliances sono fridge, microwave or coffee maker. Lights were non existent. At first the room was very very humid, AC was old so it took some time to cool it up. Even though we didn’t use tv but it was old style. Almost non existent facilities, lots of towel but for some reason we got an empty tub with 2 paper glasses. Stain marks on washroom tub, no exhaust in bathroom. No lock on bathroom door so you can imagine.There was no phone reception (SOS) & wifi of hotel was painfully slow. I asked for directions on what to do if there is an emergency after hours & person checking us in insisted that I should call them & they wouldn’t take No for an answer, I tried to explain that there is no reception of signals but I was told they had a landline their phone works, if mine doesn’t work it’s my problem. Eventually I was told to go to the home beside but there are dogs which aren’t on leash so be careful.We went for some sightseeing near by & on our return we dined at their restaurant. Food had no taste like no taste at all, not even salt or a hint of pepper. We had Salmon & Haddock fish along with poutine. Probably the worst I ever had in my life. When you’re hungry at night you want to fill up so it can fill you up if that’s what you’re looking for, when I was paying for my cheque, I didn’t added any tip to the meal & the receptionists stared me to death however our server was great & kept checking on us.The only good thing was the location. I really don’t understand where the negative comments are from. Picture this - you came from a hike, you’re very tired and hungry, you come here and you get this decent, clean, spacious room for a motel that also happens to have a restaurant on site - set your expectations straight, this isn’t a 5 star hotel and they have outlined their amenities on the booking page of their website and third party booking sites. The room was clean, there was a TV, a functioning Wi-Fi, clean toilet, a tub, shampoo, lotion and bar soap are provided, towels (hand & face ones included) are provided too, there’s a couch and a chair, two dresser chairs and plenty of light sources in the form of lamps throughout the room. No blackout curtains but I’m not picky as long as I don’t get seen from the outside that’s fine. My husband and I appreciated the motel because we have been in worse. This is a decent motel, good location, friendly staff and most importantly they have a restaurant, since this place and the surrounding areas barely have anything. No appliances, only a TV, so prepare for that in advance. Overall, good experience.

I am surprised this place does not have a 5 star rating. Motel would be an understatement. The rooms are really nice and well maintained, also has a French themed decor. Very nice staff. We are going to stay here for two nights. The restaurant food is really good for its price and there is live music in the evenings. I can’t thing about a better place to stay for a nice vacation in the mountain.
