York Montessori School

Highly recommend! There are so many great things to say about YMS. It's an amazing school where the kids are truly put first. The teachers were caring and the administration staff was really organized and everything ran smoothly. We loved all the activities the school planned and they offered so much for the kids. Our son loved going to school and learned so much. We saw such a big difference in him. As a parent, it was comforting going to work and knowing my child was safe, happy and having a great experience.

Both of my kids go to York Montessori. We find the owner VERY organized & honest. Frequent emails also keep parents in the loop with events happening in the kids classrooms. The teachers for both our kids are also AMAZING. My 4 year old daughter is reading at a high level and her number sense is extremely strong as well. This was all done without extra classes outside of the school hours. York also offers a variety of after school programs which is also appreciated. I WOULD recommend York to anyone. If they offered schooling to kids beyond age 5, I'd keep my kids there.

We love YMS! The teachers are all friendly and welcoming. My daughter loves going to school and has made great friends over the 2 years that she's been there. Academically, I find my daughter's reading and writing well beyond what I would have expected for a newly turned 5 year old. I really think YMS provides a great balance between fun and structured learning. I would recommend this school to anyone interested in the Montessori program.

Both of my children have attended York Montessori School since they were 18 months old and have both graduated from this amazing place.I have never written a review. But this gem of Richmond Hill needs to be known. This is a very thorough review. I am sure parents who are looking for the best school for their child would appreciate this.As a high school teacher, I understand the importance of providing an environment that inspires little minds to love to learn and be able to learn is crucial to develop excellent skillful learners. I have visited numerous accredited Montessori schools (not any school name itself “Montessori”), and was impressed by YMS during our first visit. Here are the reasons:1. Spotless – we have visited all classrooms, from Toddler to Casa… and the washrooms too! It’s obvious that hygiene is a top priority in this school2. A class of more than 10 toddlers can sit properly together and have lunch on their own (if you have a toddler, you know this is amazing to see!!)3. In a Casa class with over 20 kids.. all busy working but they all know what to do and appear to know the routine very well (teachers were walking with students, talking gently to teach) – no students were just hanging out and not doing anything!#2 and #3 above demonstrates that students are engaged in learning. To get students this young to do this, students need to A) enjoy learning and B) teachers need to be able to establish a strong routine for the entire class. This school can achieve both.4. I also appreciate the little daily note I receive that indicates what my child ate, if he had bowel movement and if there is anything I need to know about my child.5. Best of all – no screen time! (Do a research on what TV and iPads do to children, you will know why it’s good)#1-5 were the key reasons why we have chosen York Montessori School when we were school hunting. Now that it has been 8 years… my younger one is graduating today… I can tell you that YMS is MORE, WAY MORE than what we thought…THE TEACHERSWith a school, how possible it is that every teacher your child has encounter is an amazing teacher? My children were taught by different teachers, and they are just as amazing!! Most parents I have talked to say the same thing about their child’s teacher! My children have very different personalities, and I don’t think it is a coincident that they were placed into 2 different Casa classes. They were thoughtfully placed to support my children’s personal growth. The teachers of my children know them SO well and they know exactly how to meet them at places they need support!THE DIRECTOR/PRINCPALThe reason why this school has such professional and caring teachers is all because of Nadia (the director of the school). Not to mention that she has very high standard when it comes to hiring teachers, she is able to keep the school running smoothly (especially even when the pandemic hits… there were no confusions) by keeping parents well informed! All these years, every decision she has made, has been putting children and families first – never for financial benefits. This was more evident when the pandemic hits. Nadia never takes a short cut because it is easier. She does what is right. I know my children are in good hands…. And every day, I drop them off knowing that they will be safe, happy and excited about their learning.THE OUTCOMEBoth of my children are happy kids who LOVES to learn! They are able to read, write and solve problems well above their age level. Both of them are independent, responsible and well behaved. They are eager and well prepared to learn in years to come! … I know that this is the case for all the graduating students from YMS. This is the outcome of love and hard work of the teachers and staff at YMS!

Both of my children attend YMS and I couldn’t be happier with the decision to send them there. My children previously attended another Montessori School, and comparing the two are night and day.The teachers are caring and dedicated, and provide love and enrichment throughout the day.The owner of the school is there every morning and after school, to greet you and your children.The staff is very professional and respectful. Communication and involvement with parents is frequent and very organized.I cannot praise this school enough, and would recommend it to anyone looking for the best place for their children!

There are no words, to appreciate a team whose words empowered my daughter to chase her dreams. My daughter graduated from York Montessori school and she’ll start grade1 this year. I’ve already missed YMS!We are always thankful for endless dedication, love and patience YMS team provided to my kid during her four years in there. Besides, They provided great support and educational materials for kids at home during pandemic. It was a relief that my child received attention and support from her teachers in those stressful times.Thanks YMS team for all their devotion and supports. Without a doubt, choosing YMS was the best decision we made for our kid.

It has been the best decision for us to choose YMS as the first schooling stop for our little one - everything is awesome so far. I always feel the genuine love between the teachers and the kids which I thought amazing. That's really awesome for us to start with. The teachers are always patient, nice, friendly and lovely. Not only the teachers in my son's class but also other teachers around are always helpful and nice. I couldn't imagine there would be a better school environment like YMS. I also enjoy the activities in the school which showcase how serious the school is treating the kids academically and I always feel the support from school in terms of the guidance and instructions how we better education the kid both at home and in school. It's been a wonderful journey and we are so lucky. I highly recommend the school for any patents who are looking for the perfect pre-school for their kids.

YMS is a great school. Extremely caring and supportive staff, teachers and director. When I first entered the school for my initial walk through I was amazed at how clean, bright and organized the learning environment was in each classroom. The school also has a very calm vibe as compared to some other schools I visited. All of the staff made the transition for both of my boys as smooth as possible. The curriculum teaches both academic and practical life skills which really encourages independence. The school openly communicates with parents and questions and concerns are handled promptly and effectively. After school activities are also offered at the school which is also very convenient. There is no question, this is an excellent school that gives children a solid foundation for their future academic success. I would highly recommend this school.

My family had an absolute invaluable experience at YMS. Not only did my son and daughter received great academic enrichment, but it’s the genuine love and care from all of the teachers that makes YMS a truly wonderful Montessori. My son was more than prepared going into grade school thanks to the hard work the teachers have put in at YMS during pre-school. He still visits YMS even after graduation just because he has built such close relationship with the teachers at YMS. And my daughter looks forward to going to school everyday. YMS is extremely clean, organized, and safe. Communications are always prompt and clear. I highly recommend this school for any parents.
