Co-op Liquor

Whether in Calgary or Nanaimo, the beer is always cold and the service is friendly. The price of the single tall boys are too expensive here compared to other liquor stores.

While we celebrated with 4 generations of family together at the centrally located park in Lantzville, I decided to make a trip to the co-op liquor store to pick up some refreshing treats for the family. The youngest of us, my 21 year old granddaughter, volunteered to accompany me in order to assist me in carrying the beverages. Because she did not carry ID, the cashier refused to sell me the liquor. She would not sell it to me and she behaved as if we had done something wrong. Her supervisor cheered on the cashier and praised her for doing “the right thing.”This response was inappropriate, utterly disrespectful and ignorant. The cashier was obviously on a power trip and should learn to use her head, instead of seizing an opportunity to take a power trip. Do we want such a police state that these junior wannabe cops make alcohol so taboo that a young person cannot touch it? No wonder there is a higher incidence of alcoholism in Canada. I worked in a government liquor store on this island for 28 years and never once did I witness anything so ridiculous! I was refused service even when my granddaughter offered to wait outside! Horrible horrible !

Great selection, fabulous historic pub upstairs

Located behind the Village Pub, this is another of the Liquor Depot chain. There is lots of parking in the lot that is shared with the Village Pub. This is a small store and doesn't have as large of a selection as the bigger stores in this chain, that said, they definitely have a very selection of hard liquor, wine and beer The staff is friendly and helpful. The prices here are higher than can be found at other liquor stores in the area, but consistent with All of the Liquor Depot prices.
