Great Fountain Fast Food

Scarborough staple, the whole building brings back great memories. It’s been a while since I’ve come by and things haven’t changed much. Quick, great price and great food. Definitely will be back again soon! Got the T40. Garlic Chicken with Steak on Fried Rice.

I came here to the food court yesterday and ordered the thousand island pork on rice at Great Fountain Fast Food. I ordered the same dish from Silver Fountain Fast Food because I was curious. I also had help to eat them.There was a marked difference between the two dishes in terms of portion size and philosophy.The dish at Great Fountain Fast Food included a lemon tea, a soup and the main dish. The highlights of the meal were that the rice was a simple egg fried rice and it included a soup. The preparation of the food appeared to have more skill and effort when compared to the same dish at Silver Fountain Fast Food.The pork's fried texture and sauce was clearly superior to the Silver Fountain's thousand island pork because it seemed to indeed have more wok hey as other reviews have mentioned. But Silver Fountain's dish had slightly more pork in their dish and cost less.The rice at Great Fountain was superior because it was a simple egg fried rice whereas Silver Fountain only provides white rice. The rice was also topped with some Bok Choy and comes with soup whereas Silver Fountain does not.The lemon tea had more lemons and a stronger tea flavour compared to their competitors.Overall, the dish at Great Fountain is good value. I am sympathetic towards the thin margins these small stalls have and I am pleasantly surprised by what they can provide.The service was normal and as you would expect, but service at Silver Fountain was noticeably more friendly and upbeat.The dish at Great Fountain was a dollar or two more than and it is clear where the slightly higher cost goes everything is a little better and the cooking effort appears to be more.

One of the best spots to get all those classics. If you’ve been in toronto long enough, you’ll know about great fountain.In one of those Chinese plazas / malls that just hasn’t changed over time, the food hasn’t either. Still as tasty as when I was a kidGot a classic beef Ho fun and so good! Surprisingly wasn’t too greasy for me either. The oil stayed and coated the noodles so nicely.And I got it with a hot and sour soup cuz I’m really not a borscht fan. But if you do like that, they have that option for you as wellService is quick and that’s basically what you need from a joint like this! They have tons of options and don’t fret. Exactly what you expect it to be, great quick HK cafe style food with large portions, lots of seating in the food court. Fried rice was just a bit on the plain side. Tucked away in a plaza with lots of parking.

Fantastic! Tasty and great value for money. Portions are massive! We had:-beef ho fun-hainan chicken-baked chicken thigh in tomato sauceEach came with a drink and a pork broth soup. Lots to choose from. A hidden gem in Scarborough.

Long overdue review but this is one of the best hidden food court spots - I always get their rice or fried dishes because they have a strong “wok hay” - I usually get the fried salted squid and fried fish fillet with rice. Their baked dishes are a bit weak though - tried the baked pork chop with spaghetti and the sauce is watered down, pork chop is too tough and the spaghetti is kind of bland. Overall, great value as it comes with soup and a drink for each item!

Steamed Pork Belly with Preserved Veggies - Pork belly is ultra tender, the lean meat is fall apart in your mouth while the fat just melts, and the soy sauce marinade has fully permeated throughout the meat, making it a match made in heaven with rice. Personally, I felt the pork too fatty and not enough lean meat, but that's my opinion. The preserved veggies are also packed with umami, and pair nicely with the rice too.Follow @bredgyeats for more food photos!

Food is reasonably priced and delicious. Soy milk/lemon tea was fresh and not too sweet.
