First time fishing the Columbia. Rod gave advice on patterns and exact spots to fish. Awesome!

Great shop and staff. Small selection for spin fisherman like myself but it’s called ‘Flyshop’ so what would you expect. I had my guides replaced and Rod was quick and did a great job at a fair price. Highly recommend!Edit: New owner Dan has expanded the gear section! Stop by and see him for all your fishing needs:)

We have fished with Rod in 2013 and 2017, and we have not fished with a more knowledgeable or nice guy. He has a great fly shop, and he is a master fly-tyer. He knows the Columbia River like no other, and we caught some great fish. He is going to tell you exactly what he thinks, which I like a lot. If you want to catch some beautiful fish and learn a lot, let Rod take you out. If you are coming in for free advice and buy one fly, well you might get earful:} I hope I get another chance to fish with Rod! They don't come any better.

Did an evening outing with rod in june/July 2019. Great lad and an excellent gillie. Knows the river and where the fish are most active. Landed heaps of fine rainbows in a few hours. Highly recommended. Even if your looking to fish from bank call into the shop he will give you a few hints and tips to tackle the mighty Columbia river!

Rod was very helpful and highly knowledgeable. He was also patient enough to show us how he ties his signature nymph flies. No trip to Castlegar is complete for sports fishermen without going to this establishment.

Its a good store to stop by other than canadian tire for fishing gear. Its more tailored to fly fishing, of course ( columbia river). Small store but great selection. The staff seemed knowledgable. Have to at least pop in once of your a fishing enthusiast.

New to town and had to visit the local flyfishing shop and had a great visit with Rod. Even though I didn't buy anything on this visit he was very accommodating and informative. I will be doing all my flyfishing purchases here supporting local business. Great shop nice looking local flies and good folks.

The only spot to shop in the West kootenays if you want to catch fish! New owner Dan has kept the great spirit of the local shop alive well bringing new energy. He’s knowledgeable, friendly and great to chat with. Thanks Dan!

Service and selection are hit and miss.I recently saw the owner/guide anchored in the middle of a well known and obvious trout spawning area with 2 fishermen, assumed to be clients. The area contains many occupied redds in shallow water with dozens of fish visibly spawning.While this is within the regulations it is considered by many to be unethical to target spawning trout or to fish on top of active redds. For those that hold these ethics, you may want to shop elsewhere or use another of our local guides.

Great shop. I wanted to fish the Columbia for the first time. After reading many different articles online I headed out. After being skunked the first morning, I headed into town to grab some local flys. The owner was extremely helpful and knowledgeable about the river. After touching base with him, I was able to catch some fish. Great shop!!!THEN, after many more trips with nominal success. I finally arrived on a three day stretch when the dryfly fishing was hot! I watched as many people caught many more fish then me and couldn't figure out exactly what the fish were keyed in on. And then I saw the owner of the fly shop launching his boat. After hooking and releasing three or four fish. He called me over and gave me the" fly for the night
