Bonnie is a great person! We adopted our kitten from her in September 2022, and called her yesterday for some questions, not only did she go above and beyond recommending what is right for our kitten, she even recommended some vets to go to! Bonnie is utterly commited to all the animals under her care, past or present, and one will seldom find an organization so profusely committed to the wellbeing of their animals!

I met Bonnie at adoption days at Pet Smart today. The way she treated myself and the other people looking was horrendous. She yelled, judged, and if my daughter hadn't been with me, I would have given Bonnie a good long chat & straightened her out. I took the high road & wished her luck with her adoption event. She must have a kind heart in there somewhere to do what she does, but her yelling at us all today sure didn't show it. Bonnie was the talk of the store and it wasn't positive feedback.

Not very polite and advertising cats that aren’t available, my little boy was over the moon to see the kitten named O’Malley only to call and be bluntly told he’s not available, no offer of other cats or anything. I can see she (the owner) made a post on here approx 5hrs ago priding herself and her company which means she also had the ability to update the site to inform the public which cats aren’t available. Very disappointed in the service and communication. Doesn’t seem like she’s very focused on finding homes for these precious fur babies, but rather cause heart ache and make profits.

We live in the country and found a cat severely wounded. I called around and was referred to Bonnie at SALT. Bonnie was extremely helpful. She arranged for us to drop the cat at Shaw Road Veterinary Clinic in Dorchester. They took the cat in immediately for treatment. Everyone was extremely helpful and friendly. Truly a life-saving experience. Here is a pic they sent after treatment.

We’ve adopted three cats through SALT and have only nice things to say about the organization and all the volunteers who keep it going.

Bonnie Smith, the founder of SALT, is the SALT of the earth. She runs an high quality cat rescue, is very experienced, knowledgeable, organized, clean, medically and ethically responsible, not to mention kind, compassionate, caring and incredibly hard working. Her standards are top notch, including her screening of fosters and adopters. I have had the honour of volunteering with her organization and several of my coworkers have adopted feline family members from her and been beyond thrilled with their kitties! I ALWAYS recommend Bonnie and SALT as a first line option of where to adopt a kitty from. There are several rescues in this area who have cats for foster and adoption but since I know Bonnie's standards first hand, as well as personally knowing of all my coworkers' experiences of adopting kitties from her, I can give a genuine recommendation!

Bonnie is quite possibly the most thoughtful and selfless person I have ever met. I fostered through SALT, and watching her utmost dedication to those poor creatures at the expense of her own sense of rest was a true testament to the integrity of the rescue. Bonnie puts her animals before everything and there is not an expense she wont spare to make sure those cats have the best life possible---the best chance possible. I have never seen a rescue go to the lengths that SALT goes for their animals, and I have never met anyone more hard working than Bonnie. It was also through SALT that I adopted my cat, Trio (now Ducky). After losing my beloved cat Dil, I didn't think I would be able to get another pet for a while, but when I saw Ducky I knew I had to take him home. While the veterinarian hospital initially recommended that SALT euthanize Ducky, Bonnie gave him the chance he needed and I am eternally grateful for this because the specialist now assigned to Ducky told me--not one month ago--that while his legs may be atypical, he is a perfectly happy, and healthy cat. Ducky's legs healed in such a way that works for him, and there never would have been a reason, I was told, to put him down. In fact, Ducky is so healthy that he may never even need pain medications.Without Bonnie's grit and dedication I may never have met Ducky, because I don't know anyone else who would have gone out of their way to make sure that a cat like him would be given every chance possible. Thank you for everything, SALT.There is no greater gift than the love of a furry friend, and Bonnie gave me that.

I have adopted 3 cats from this incredible organization over the last 3 years. Bonnie and her team dedicate blood, sweat and tears to saving animals, raising money to get veterinary care, socializing animals so they are ready, and finding homes where they will have the best lives possible. I am not sure how she does it! Thank you!

SALT Rescue prides themselves in finding homes for their kitties that suit the need of the animal being adopted. Proper diet, regular vet care and the environment that suits the animal are reviewed and only then an approval or denial are given. SALT only feeds the recommended foods decided by our vets which helps lower the amount of vet visits and vet bills. The animal is SALT's number one priority, not the fact that people think they are entitled to have a cat or get another cat. SALT Rescue is the only advocate these animals have to provide them with a safe, loving, permanent home and that can provide all the individual necessities that each of these precious souls requires. The one star reviews that SALT is receiving have come from the people that have not been approved and have had to lie to defame the rescue. Unfortunately, the animals suffer not the volunteers. SALT is proud of the volunteers that provide the best care daily (7 days a week) to all their animals. Everyone has a job to do and we take the job seriously. No one gets paid and many take out of their own pockets in order to keep rescuing and saving these precious babies.

Don’t recommend adopting from here. Although I’ve adopted a cat from salt in the past - I’ve found Bonnie to have unrealistic expectations such as only buying food from the vet (not from a pet store or grocery store) for cats you adopt from her. Between her adversarial attitude and unrealistic expectations, she’s not helping as many cats find homes as she could. Honestly, LACC treated us much better and was happy to have our family adopt a cat without making us promise to only buy a particular brand of food from a vet.
