Had a great newly renovated house in Lowther division and made some very good friends there. Very good location and a lot of space for 9 people to live. Think the house manager idea needs a bit of a rethink and had heard that some of the older houses need a lot of work but enjoyed my time staying at Campus Cooperative. Would recommend it particularly for students past first year of university.

I've only lived in CCRI for 3 months now, but I love the community and the affordable rent. Houses are old, but there's a lot of renovations going on throughout the COOP and theres a lot of potential.

After getting scammed $200 out of my deposit, the secretary admits to quitting at the end of the week because of how terrible co-op was and couldn't deal with the amount of negative complaints students were giving about the living conditions. I was also scammed before out of $300 after being forced to pay for damages caused by a break in. They will try to fine you for cleaning fees when you move out (almost guaranteed). One guy left his shelf of food in the kitchen and we had to pay $1500 as a household. It was insane! The houses are full of leaking ceilings, mold, bugs, rats and trash. The co-op team is extremely lazy. They don't do anything and take their time with each of your requests. You WILL be held accountable for other people's actions and pay for it. The only reason I stayed was for the great friends I was living with, but if you have any interest in living somewhere that isn’t complete trash, make the effort to search for an apartment. They are pretending to be in the midst of a rebrand with new management but that hasn't changed anything. And for the positive reviews on here saying this like to counter"

The only great thing about campus co op is that you have the opportunity to meet really great people that you probably wouldn't come across in your daily life. I was lucky enough to have really great roommates who became really great friends and made the experience tolerable. Other than that, I don't really have anything positive to say. The houses are not very well maintained, some on the brink of falling apart and ridden with pests, and the staff is extremely unhelpful. Whenever something in the house breaks or something needs attention it's like pulling teeth trying to get anyone from the office to do something about it and when they finally do look into it, they do a very poor and or cheap job of fixing the problem. I understand it's student housing, but it's extremely inefficient. To top things off, money seems to go missing as well: money that members pay but we never actually see or have access to. At the end of the year, none of this money is returned to the members and seems to be written off by the office. This has happened to quite a few people I know, myself included. To be honest, co op is marketed as cheap student housing, but there is much cheaper and much nicer student housing out there, where the staff are efficient and actually do their jobs.

These houses may not be the prettiest, but if you and your house mates are willing to put in the effort to do your d*mn dishes and chores, it makes for a much better living environment. Plus the price is not bad especially for a room in downtown Toronto, where you're walking distance to everything! I have been living in the South division for three years and plan on coming back for my fourth and final year of school. Four for you Co-op, you go Co-op!! Definitely recommend to students in the area!

This is my first year in coop! Love it so far! The houses are old, but charming and you get to meet alot of different people. The community aspect is great! Would recommend to any student looking for housing in Toronto

To counter some of the old reviews- co-op has removed former neglectful staff members, and things are steadily improving. There are still issues, as there would be in any student residence, and the cleanliness of your house really depends on the work you and your housemates put in to it, but people looking for a community of people beyond just their university classes will have a great time here. Not only will you make great friends within your house, but also with neighbouring co-op houses, and with people from other divisions at Co-op parties. If you are looking for somewhere to live and want it to be more than just a room you sleep and study in, but rather an opportunity to make friends and feel like you belong somewhere, co-op is great. When I first moved in to co op, I thought it would just be a place to stay for my first year and then I'd move out, but I fell in love with it, and it's become my home for 4 years now. Also, different houses have very different vibes, so let Janice know if you're looking for a more social or a more quiet environment when you apply.

The houses are dirty, bug infested, and the staff do nothing to fix it. One of our bathrooms was completely unusable the entire time I lived there because the toilet didn't flush and the sink overflowed. They are completely overpriced for what you get, I was paying $700/month for a room plus a mandatory $150/month for food, and a studio apartment would have been $750/month. The houses aren't secure, they aren't safe and you end up living with criminals, drug dealers, drug users and disgusting people. The staff are incredibly rude and have a long track record of stealing from the students. Avoid this place at all costs.

It is run by a gang of thugs. The properties have been confiscated by the police many times in the past for gang activity. They are not upfront about this and I heard same staff. All they do is scam students any way they can. I was assaulted by a member of the staff. Do not rent at campus co op; you would be better off and safer sleeping on the street.

The houses come dirty, bug infested, some had rats and my ceiling on the second floor of a third story building leaked. The staff do not care about fixing the places up. If you complain about something, they will just find a way to turn it around on you or charge you outrageous funds after they throw some duct tape or a piece of wood and nails on it. One of our bathrooms were disgusting the entire time I lived there because the toilet didn't flush, the sink overflowed and there would constantly be piss beside the toilet. The houses are overpriced. I paid $869 for a room with a hole in the ceiling that regularly leaked at 582 Spadina. The houses aren't secure, they aren't safe and you end up living with criminals, drug dealers, drug users and disgusting people. Random hobos and people would enter our house all the time because the front door wouldn't shut probably (after several times of asking for maintenance to fix it). On the coldest days, the heat wouldn't work and you would have to wait for a maintenance person to fix it days later. The staff is incredibly rude and have a long track record of stealing from the students. Avoid this place at all costs. The company has tried to take away most of the resident's from the Campus Coop houses deposit funds due to cleaning expenses" after we left. The house smelt like cat piss and was an utter mess from the moment I moved it. I advise you all to find a roommate and move into a peaceful apartment.P.S. The walls are thin so you can hear everyone's doings and thoughts."
