Le Baluchon Éco-villégiature

Not a good experience overall. Not sure if they suffered from inexperienced staff because of the pandemic, but courtesy was lacking, so was communication and professionalism. We were not told the rooms would be done over our 3 night stay. They would not give us a map of the grounds. We wanted to upgrade our room, one person said no problem, the other said there were no more rooms available. We were given a key for single kayak instead of a double, causing us to lose about an hour of our time. At the counter, they suggested we take the 1.5 hour route in the kayak to see the waterfalls, when we got there, they were dried up. For the tandem message with my wife, we had asked for two females, we got a male and a female. The spa is very small and despite a slow period, we did not even get a chance to use it. There was a fly infestation eating outside on the terrace. We were told rudely that we could not move inside because they would have to disenfect two tables. On the positive side, the service in the main restaurant was excellent as was the food. The horseback riding guide was excellent. To top it off, when we checked out, they miscalulated the total cost and we paid hundreds of dollars less than we should have. we told the clerk but he said all was good. Two months later, they called saying we owed over a thousand dollars. They tried to charge taxes on the extra tips we gave the servers! Insisting in fact and saying it was the law. The lady finally agreed we were right, but we ended up paying over $800. No apologies by anyone for all the problems. Very disapointing, very expensive and not nearly worth it.

The food and wine is good, but overpriced. The tip (15%) is already included on the bill (which is fine), but when they hand you the terminal, the lowest tip suggestion" is 15%. So you're forced to tip 15% and then they suggest you tip another 15% for a total of 30% on a 100-200$+ bill. It's fine to force the 15% tip

Loads to say about this place.A remote location which is absolutely beautiful and in connection with nature. The scenery is unbelievable. There are a lot of activities to do around.Regarding the rest facilities are nicely decorated with wooden theme everywhere but rooms are small and outdated. There are no lifts no it's not great when you have to carry luggage and a trolley.Finally the people: some are extraordinary like Luc at the restaurant, others are mediocre at best. After 3 nights there and more than $1,500 spent we buy a small souvenir and the lady at the till ask for $1.5 for a paperwrap gift. Aren't you ashamed of nothing? She couldn't care less, the reception couldn't care less either. Finally they offered it to us VERY RELUCTANTLY which is a shame as it stains the memory of the whole stay.Don't act in pathetic way like this. When one spend so much money you just say thanks and you apologise.

Good:The site is beautiful and very vast. The food at the restaurant was also excellent. Every employees we spoke too were really kind and polite.Bad:The rooms are okay at best for the price. When we got to the room, the heating was turned off and the room temperature was 14C. We kept our coat in the room for a good part of the evening. This is ridiculous considering it is a 300$/night room. We had taken the outdoor activity plan which said it allowed us to do every outdoor activities with the equipment included. Turns out the only activity we could do was walk. We thought we could at least go on a bicycle ride but no, we had to rent the bicycles. We then went for a walk following the blue line (sentier de l'Archipel). The sight was beautiful but the trail itself was mainly walking in a truck/car road. Every once in a while, the trail would leave the car road and lead us to the forest for about 10 feet then come back in the road. It was quite ridiculous.

I didn't stay the night as I was spending a week in an air bnb in the area. They had a winter promo for horseback riding so I did 1 hour of horseback riding (I called at 8am to book and was able to go at 10:30 am). I them went to the Nordic spa and had a back mud massage. Am absolutely perfect say with wonderful staff who were very accommodating for my lack of French. Thank you!

In a nut shell, we stayed here for three days for a conference, and found out there are so many things this place has to offer. What was extremely impressive was the food. Simply delicious and different from the typical restaurants especially at dinner time. Breakfast buffet was always delicious with fresh options. And lunch as well. I am.coming back, but this time not for a work event. And if I do come back I would like to stay more day.

We went for a day hike. Trails were beautiful and well labeled.

My overall experience of the Éco-villégiature Le Baluchon is just WOW. The staff is amazingly friendly and helpful. The amount of activities to be done here is so great it's impossible to do all in only one day stay. The spa is amazing, comfortable and very peaceful. The food is great.I can't speak for the hotel rooms as I live only 50km from this spot so staying for the night is to my point of view a waste of money. But based on my experience all around the site I'm willing to say the rooms must be as good as everything else I have experience.If you love nature and relaxation this is THE place to visitHIGHLY RECOMMENDED

Two nights, payed by the company, so... no idea about the prices. Generally, very nice. The food was excellent, the room, too. Little (very little) things could be bettered, like one specific bathroom in an dinning area (plumbing) and detailed attention to orders.I recommend.
