Metropolitan Movers Durham - Oshawa Moving Company

WARNING!! Do not use this company!!Here's my experience... They charge 99$/hr, 120$ for their truck including gas mileage and insurance. On November 20th I hired this company to assist me and my wife on our move as were in our early 70s and are not able to do it ourselves and didn't have much help. They had damaged my TV during the move and said they would deal with this through their insurance as we discussed prior to the move. Big joke; their insurance covers 60¢ a pound.. They informed me my 60 inch Samsung 4k smart TV was worth only $27 (paid over $800 only a year ago) though said they were doing ME a favor and would give me 100$ out of good faith. I used these guys to move into my condo and I have nothing but good things to say about them. They showed up on time as agreed. They loaded and unloaded my boxes and furniture like pros. They were fast, and none of my stuff got damaged. The two young guys who came were pleasant, friendly and professional. They were available on short notice, and their price was extremely competitive. I would recommend them in a heartbeat to anybody looking to move.

Terrible experience with this company, I will never use them again. Would never recommend. Showed up 1 hour late with a broken equipment. Then over charged for the moving services.Highly disappointed and feel ripped off.

I had a move booked with Metropolitan Movers Durham, and let me tell you: these guys really know their stuff, they came prepared with floor pads as it was a rainy day first of all; the staff was very professional, respectful and well mannered.They walked us through the process of moving our furniture, and in my opinion the most important aspect was that they made no scratches on my new floor and there was absolutely no damages, everything was wrapped up properly. FULLY RECOMMEND, give it a try !

Absolutely terrible customer service.Scheduled a move of a 2 bedroom house for August 31 months in advance.The day prior to the move on August 30 the mover called and asked us to change our moving time from 11am to 8am. I told him that I wouldn't been able to as I wasn't getting the keys to my new home until the afternoon and this company charges by the hour after a certain time.The movers said that he would still be there for 11am but he didn't seem impressed.On August 31 I was waiting for the movers and at 1130am (30 mins after they were supposed to be there) they called to inform the truck has been in an accident and they wouldn't be able to accommodate a move.The person who called was incredibly dismissive and didn't seem to care that he left us completely screwed as we had an entire house to move with no movers and no trucks available to rent.We tried calling 12 different moving companies and booking U-hauls to get the job done but nobody was available.We eventually found another company who saved the day but was substantially more expensive due to last minute booking.Metropolitan movers refused to take any ownership and have now refused to return my calls.DO NOT BOOK. STAY AWAY!!

My recent move with Metropolitan Movers Oshawa detachment has not been successful. You will be risking complications if you book with this organization.We hired them for our move last Saturday, November 5th. On the day of the move, the two laborers who arrived refused to move our elliptical and stackable washer and dryer for safety reasons. They stated it was a 3-4 person job.I spoke with the booking agent twice prior to the day of the move to go over all details. We spoke in length regarding the elliptical and washer/dryer. I explained to them that the items were incredibly large. I did not have the weight, but instead described the size of these items and the environment they were located in. The booking agent suggested two movers for the day. I trusted this because only the company can know the limitations and capacity of what their movers can do. Their supposed to be the experts, no?I've been trying to reach someone since the day of the move. We called them November 5th when the work was originally refused to see if we could get an additional laborer. I've been calling since then and have left multiple messages both with people and on their machine. I was never contacted by anyone.Today, I managed to get someone on the phone. Communication with the staff at this organization is terrible. I am interrupted at every given moment with an excuse as to why this is somehow not their fault. The solution offered to me is to have 4 men come to move our two items for a discounted rate of $760.00 + tax. We've already paid the two movers on Saturday, November 5th a total of $796.65 tax in.I've reached out to Two Men & A Truck, who quoted me $590.00 + tax for a truck and three men to do the same job.Bee Ready Movers quoted me $700.00 for the same thing.Metropolitan Movers is not acknowledging their mistake. Negotiations between myself and the company is heated and has completely degraded. I confronted them about their discounted" (but really full price) quote

The movers were fine. The packers were a nightmare!!! Precious pictures were broken, bleach & other cleaning supplies were packed with clothes & shoes! They were ruined! They didn’t have the right boxes. They ran out of boxes and left 1/2 the boxes open the night before moving day. So I had to use my moving time the following day for them to finish packing up. On packing day, they did not bring tape! So they used what I had and then spent 30 minutes running out to the store to get some. They were completely unprepared and unprofessional. I paid for this time when they were out shopping for tape. It also cost me extra time the next day as the movers had to pack during my moving time. Kitchen items were packed with clothes. Since they didn’t bring any closet boxes and ran out of boxes, all my clothes were shoved in with other items. Totally a mess! Black balsamic vinegar spilled all over my items. Everything was VERY poorly packed/rushed in paper. I tried to contact the manager multiple times via telephone and text. He never responded. If I could give this packing job a zero, I would. Do NOT use their packing service!!

I recently hired Metropolitan Movers Durham to move in a 400 pound piece of furniture into my house, and am very pleased with the result. I called and spoke with Vlad who quickly made arrangements for a crew of 3 men to come out with just a few days' notice. The crew came on time, were polite and professional, and made the job look easy. I was impressed with their teamwork. If I end up moving in the future, I'll call them again. Thanks, guys!

I don’t understand why there are few bad reviews as I didn’t experience anything bad at all!! Very professional company!! I had to move out from my apartment last minute. Dean explained all of the prices and process, patiently replied to all of my questions and concerns. Team came in time. All of the stuff we’re packed and moved fast and careful!!! Amazing Team! They went above and beyond to make me a great moving experience!! Thank you guys and I will definitely use only their service from now on. Highly recommend it to everyone!!!

I highly suggest not trusting them with your move.
