This has been a favorite, somewhat hidden gem for me in Square One. I always get the rice and peas with jerk chicken meal, and it's always at perfection. Adding the pepper sauce on the side takes the meal to a whole other level. There's no other Caribbean based/influenced places in Square One, but Roywoods takes a huge W. For drinks, they have some popular pairings like ting, island soda, and peanut punch. For the big kids, they offer Heineken, Dragon Stout, and Red Stripe. A perfect section mostly to themselves, away from the mall traffic, and the atmosphere paired with their own music makes the whole experience so much better.

Generous Portions and flavourful fare. The Jerk chicken is well seasoned with the right amount of kick! Oxtail gravy is light and full of lovely aroma. Fried Chicken burger was very juicy and satisfying. Plantain was also fresh and soft, goes well with meals.Staff are friendly and attentive, great ambience with great music- a nice quite area in square one, away from the hustle and bustle of the food courts.

I tried to like this like others but meh. When I order apparently the place had complications preparing the meal. When it finally arrived…It looked like what it was suppose to be but the taste didn’t add up. Also, their gravy is runny like oil so when I got my food it’s like I was drink soup with rice. The rice and peas was hard and fresh (no taste)Their steam veg is just that…steam veg…no season, no salt…no taste.UPDATE: I really tried to like this place so I ordered again but got the oxtail…was a miss again. Same issue. The rice was tough, everything had no taste and again…the gravy is sooo watery that it’s like soup sitting under the rice.

I can certainly say that this is not how jerk chicken is supposed to taste! Very spicy chicken with no salt, seasoning. It's just spicy very dry chicken. I won't even start with the callalloo and rice but it's by far the worst I've ever tried! The jerk sandwich same deal super spicy which would actually be enjoyable if there was some sort of flavour other than basically doing the hot chip challenge lol. Rice and peace were dry and hard, again no flavor. Maybe add some coconut milk or something, at least put some passion in your food if you're going to open a restaurant... Attached are pictures of the food 1 day after sitting in the fridge since it sucked.

Portion for the price 4/5Customer Service 4/5Environment 5/5Wait time 5/5coleslaw taste-1/5Meat portion 4/5Meat taste 2/5Sauce on rice taste 2/5Price for portion 4/5 fairRice 4/5Review : I ordered Jerk chicken with rice and peas with coleslaw. The coleslaw was enough to feed 5 people (feedback- cut down on the coleslaw portion it way too much). Honestly there was nothing Jerked about the chicken, this is the worst Jerk chicken I have ever tasted. Sorry they need to fix their recipe, it's was too wet. I honestly cannot called this Jerk chicken the tasted was hard to eat and the sauce on the rice didn't help either. The Coleslaw was fresh but had no taste.

Great comforting fast food. Plantain were exactly the way I like it. Mushy. Although the oil was a bit dirty some of the plantain came about a bit browned. But all good.Oxtail was very tender and tasty. Gravy was lacking a bit of flavor. Coleslaw on its own was very tasty.Jerk chicken was good but a tad dry. It had a small kick of spice.Overall - highly recommend

I live right across the street from square one, so I've come to this location quite a few times. The prices are pretty decent however, wish the portions were a little larger. I have tried the fried chicken and the jerk chicken - personally I am not a fan of the fried chicken however, the jerk chicken is amazing. I will say there are some days where the jerk chicken is really spicy - still really tasty though. The rice and peas are also really good, and my favourite - the coleslaw. When you order a meal, you will get the protein, rice and peas, and a small side of coleslaw. I always get an extra container of coleslaw on the side though because I am obsessed haha. For a large meal + a small container of coleslaw on the side, I paid $21. Staff are ALWAYS incredible. They are always so friendly and outgoing. Overall, I definitely recommend this place.

I always come here with my family for authentic Jamaican food! The Jerk Chicken Sandwich and the Plate are well-flavoured and spicy without being too much. If you want some extra spice, you can always get the hot sauce on the side. And their Festivals are fried to perfection. Plus, the music is always great... makes you want to get up & dance! Roywoods is my favourite food spot at Square and I have a feeling it'll be open for a long time :)

Been wanting to try this place since I saw it. It's tucked away from food court or food district. You need a bit of work to find the place. The large size jerk chicken plate is generous with four pieces of chicken, tender and flavourful (eat with their hot sauce!). The plantain dessert was also amazing, though much on the extreme sweet side. Their coleslaw, though refreshing, is a bit bland for my taste, and may clash with the rest of the dish due to being cold.
