Sea Parrot Ocean View Manor/Resort/Cottages/Suites/Hotel

***Note: Over 4 years after writing this review, the owner has written a reply. Unfortunately, it is full of lies... I do believe people can grow and I believe in forgiving those people. It would have been nice for that to have played out.Review:The accommodations were good; nice cottages, nice hot tubs, nice view of the ocean, etc.The owners on the other hand were absolutely horrible. Our week stay started off with one of the owners losing her mind because we were cooking mussels... which we would have been able to get over...Day two of our stay was eventful. We started the day without any running water. When we approached the owners about the issue, we were immediately cursed out and blamed. We hadn't even been there for 24 hours yet at this point and had used little to no water at all. We then decided to go to the Ingonish beach for the day. While we were gone, the owners went through our cottages without our permission. They thought we had all left. Luckily, a few of us stayed behind and caught them in the act. They then tried to cover up what they were doing and proceeded to curse us out again for telling them they cannot go through our things.We were without water the entire week and when we asked them what the plan was for returning water to the cottages or acquiring bottled water, they simply told us they were not going to do anything about it.Almost every day there was an incident with the owners... either they'd be mad we didn't shower before going in the hot tub (without running water...?) or claiming we had too many people in our cottages, which we did not, or blaming whatever it was on their mind at the time on us. It was extremely unpleasant and I hope they smarten up as owners. It was with no surprise they weren't Canadians, and I hope this review helps persuade people looking for a vacation in Cape Breton to stay at one of the other much more friendly family owned accommodations.

Absolutely stunning location, only regret is not having a bit more time to relax there (mainly on the hammocks!).I wasn't the biggest fan of the interior/under the sea theme of the room but I will say it created much amusement and is most certainly very memorable! The only reason I have submitted 4 stars for service instead of 5 is because we didn't spend enough time at the location to have any kind of service at all really but the room/cabin itself had plenty of towels (unlike most accomodations) and everything was clean and functional so we did not have occasion to seek out assistance.Lots of fun in the hot tub although it was VERY hot so we were in and out in about 20 minutes and there were no controls we could find to turn it down. I would prefer it just slightly lower so you can relax and enjoy yourself a bit more but that is personal preference at the end of the day. There's a small area you can play football as well as volleyball and other small activities right in front of the cabins which is wonderful, but definitely be careful with anything ball related as there are several things you could hit and break in the surrounding areas!We visited in August and the mosquitos weren't too bad compared to other areas in Canada that we visited but definitely bring your bug spray regardless (especially if you react badly to bites like I do!) There's a good amount of parking available and all the other guests were friendly and respectful. Would definitely return and try out one of the other themed rooms!

Our large family stayed at the Sea Parrot and we were not disappointed. The cottages are very clean and comfortable the grounds are well kept and the kiddies had swings and toys to play with. There is lawn games and board games you are welcome to use and the fire pit is awesome. . Thank you Lonnie and staff for putting up with our large group we had a great weekend.

Beautiful location right on the Ocean and Cabot Trail. The owner is super friendly and makes you feel welcomed like family. I was there in the first week of August 2021 with family and enjoyed every moment of our stay. The bonfire every evening allows you to interact with the other guests and make new friends. It is close to some good restaurants which serve great sea food. There’s a variety of cottages to choose from within the resort.I would love to visit again in the coming summers if the current owner still owns the place as the property was up for sale when we had visited.I wish that I could load and share some pictures taken during our stay.Great place to stay!!

Beautiful grounds. Nice, clean cottages. Best part was the Lonnie guiding us through excursion ideas, doing our laundry while we were out and making my kids feel welcome to get games and sports stuff from her house. Thanks for taking care of us❤

The beauty of the location is the only PRO, the cabins we stayed in were fine but the themed decorations were dusty.the owner is a nightmare to deal with. She likes to speak of her rules but doesn't follow any at all, any time we left she would enter our cabins without permission. When we confronted her about it she said its her property and she has a right to go and do anything she pleases. She complained we left our dog behind even though we paid the extra pet fee and she put covers on the couch and removed any carpets (that weren't covering a stain on the floor) the only way she would have known about the dog is if she tried to enter since the blinds were closed and he doesn't bark. There was one night we admit we were in the wrong being loud and listening to music past 11pm but instead of asking us to tone it down the next day she decided to try and forbid us from lighting a bonfire past sundown.If you don't mind being treated like children and babysat" for your stay then by all means enjoy."

Lonnie and Roy are beyond fantastic!! They were extremely accommodating and made us feel like we were family. We had the absolute pleasure of getting married on their outstanding property this passed week. The cabin we stayed in was beyond adorable and extremely well-kept. To anyone who is visiting the Cabot Trail, I highly recommend staying at the Sea Parrot!!

Location is great. Owner lives next , she is very helpful. They have 3 huts , some rooms and one parrot boat that is an amazing boat. It remains of pirates of Caribbean theme. Though there is no food and internet is very slow or not working.

The facilities were pretty much what we expected. The cottage we stayed in was comfortable and well maintained and hot tub was cleaned daily. The grounds were also well maintained but the staircase leading to the beach need some work as it feels a little unsteady. The view is great and you can usually see some seals at some point during the day (just their heads though). There are many activities to pass the time in the late afternoon when you return from a day trip but I wouldn't necessarily plan on spending full days on site since the beach isn't really suitable for hanging out.The owner, Lonnie, is really great. She does everything she can to make your stay comfortable. They do your laundry for $10 per load and you petit back dried and folded. She looked after our dog a couple of times when we went to a beach or trail that didn't allow dogs. She keeps lots of yard and board games on hand and lends them out without hassle. Lonnie and her staff were a big reason we had a very pleasant stay.One disappoint aspect was that we were unable to get any fresh lobster. We came in late August and didn't realize that the lobster fisheries are shut down in mid July. No fault of the Sea Parrot, of course, but just something to keep in mind if you plan on enjoying fresh lobster.
