Tam Orthodontics and Pediatric Dentistry

My child, who has never liked going to the dentist, loves Dr.Tam and the friendly staff. We actually had horror situations with Vancouver pediatric dentists, check my past reviews.... The Tam team are kind and supportive to child with fears. I have heard other stories about children who once had dental phobias finding sanctuary at Dr.Tam's as well. Hey, whatever the team does it really resonates with the cowardly kids- keep up the good work!That said, there’s a real time management issue here. Often waiting for over an hour for appointments to start.

My son had the best experience with his braces thanks to Dr. Isaac Tam. My son wasn’t the happiest when he found out his braces were coming off he wanted to keep them for a longer period of time. It took Dr. Isaac only a year and a half to provide my son with a confident smile. Dr.Isaac Tam is a friendly, caring and kind dentist who always ensure that my children are comfortable during their monthly visits. I would recommend Tam Dental to all my family and friends.

Doing extra unnecessary work to pump the bill.While Yvonne from the front-desk have been very helpful with the paperwork, I can't say the same about Dr Isaac Tam.My 5 y/o daughter went through surgery (full anesthesia) to extract one tooth due to abscess and put a crown on the other, and she woke up with 3 extra teeth extracted for no necessary reason. Not only has she been through extra pain, and is now dealing with 3 gaps in front (adult teeth or nowhere ready to come out), but each tooth was charged $150, or $350 total. Won't be coming back, that's for sure.

As nice as they are, my daughter finally saw her new dentist a nd we found out they left bonding glue on all her teeth after 5 years of her braces taken out. I don't believe the hygienists are qualified if they can't catch this in the 5 years. Now the new dentist has to polish each and every tooth to clean out the bonding. I'm deeply upset and regretting it as my husband and I made the decision to keep her with them until she is of age.

Tam dental is the best!! We’ve had a great experience making sure our children dental health is good. Samuel Tam has been great with my daughters, is clearly and expert in his field, and helped resolve any problems we were experiencing. The staff is friendly and helpful. The location is convenient with complementary parking in the rear. The facility is clean and comfortable. Highly recommended.

My mom brought me to Dr Timothy Tam for braces when I was a young teen on the recommendation of her friend, over twenty years ago, even though he is not a qualified orthodontist.He performed extraction-retraction orthodontics on me, removing four healthy teeth and bracing the teeth together to close gaps, and effectively pushing both jaws backward. Now in my thirties I am suffering TMJ pain, severely receded gumline and bone loss due to his braces having pushed teeth out of their alveolar housing in the jaw/bone, and an objectively unattractive facial harmony and profile due to both jaws being recessed and chin receding.He didn’t even take before/after pictures; that’s how little he cares for patients’ outcomes.I know he’s responsible for damaging many other patients’ health and lives. His retirement cannot come soon enough. Please protect your children and run far away.

Awful Dr. Tam. He failed to diagnose early signs of caries in our infant when we came in with worries and questions and assured is it’s nothing to be worried about.3 months later when it became evident that there is a problem, we came back and he said, oh I guess it’s decaying teeth.. but we can fix it with crowns.Excuse me, what?!!! What happened to prevention? It made me feel like Dr. Tam would rather get a client with expensive procedures than help to keep teeth healthy.He offered no solutions or treatments other than “wait and see” how the teeth continue to decay. Just horrible. I would never recommend this awful place to anyone.

I am so grateful we were referred to Tam Dental. Sam's initial intake of our daughter via an emergency over the phone referral (on a long weekend) led us to top tier care provided by Dr. Isaac Tam within 48 hours. Follow up with the admin team was seamless, and they were always reachable and responded promptly to all of my inquiries. Hopeful to not have to make another emergency trip, but if we ever do, we will be returning to Tam Dental!

1.)Came to this dentist for the 1st time with my preteen who has mild-autism.2.) He had an x-ray done and then was examined by Dr. Tam.My son was very busy throughout the appointment and Dr. Tam was calm/kind to us and said that we should have the dental procedure done at BC Children’s Hospital.2.) I booked the dental appointment and mentioned that Dr. Tam had told me that this dental procedure should be done at BC Children’s Hospital. The receptionist had said “no, where did you hear that? All the dental procedures are done at Tams Dentistry Office along W. Broadway.” So I listened and booked for Tams dental office.3.) The dental procedure was supposed to be done today June 20, 2023; however, my son was apprehensive to take an iv or gas mask to go under. The anesthesiologist suggested the dental procedure to be done at BC Children’s Hospital.4.) Then Dr. Tam followed up by saying he could put in a referral for us to be on a 9-12 month waiting list to have the dental procedure at BC Children’s Hospital.5.) There was an unnecessary appointment made for the W. Broadway Location when the appointment should have been at BC Children’s to begin with.

Both my kids go to Tam dental. Dr Isaac Tam did my son's braces and retainer which turned out great. They have recently renovated the Vancouver office which looks very good. I like the fact that Dr. Tam has a very ethical and professional approach to their dentistry practice. Dr Isaac teaches at UBC and the whole family donates time and resources to under privileged individuals.
