Breakout Escape Room

Unclear instructions from staff. Room was old and in need of an update. Room was literally falling apart. There was grafitti from previous people all over some clues. The experience was not immersive at all. Puzzles looked like they were put together by an amateur. If you want a true experience check out GTFO

That was deliciously difficult! The staff is fabulous, the puzzle was hard, and we finished with four minutes to spare. Definitely check this out if you want to be hand cuffed to the table before trying to escape the room!

Please listen to all the recent reviews. Place is old and dated. Puzzles are falling apart. One mechanical puzzle required you to face the correct way to open it so it adds to confusion and there is no marker as to which way you should face. One of the clues was color coded but the colors were so faded you couldnt tell if it was red or orange. Worst escape room in edmonton.

The room was a fun challenge, but on 2 occasions, the solved puzzle didn’t allow us to progress because of a finicky lock or switches that made us think we had the wrong answer. We managed to escape our room with 1 second left on the clock by guessing part of the final puzzle, but had the locks and switches worked properly, we would have been out 20 minutes earlier. I suggest ensuring the rooms are working 100% properly before sending people in!

Have done lots of escape rooms and this place was by far the worst. Did secret lab 2.0 and it was really bad although it was the “new and improved” it was falling apart, items were broken, the room did not look professional, the room was filthy, the puzzles were confusing and unrelated. Over all it was a very poor experience, especially for those who were with us that it was their first ever room—the location was so bad that they have no interest in doing another one if they are like that. Not worth the price, everything was done using locks minus the one “mechanical puzzle” which I don’t consider a puzzle at all. It was pretty obvious what was going to move from the moment you walked into the room. Just save yourself the time and money, try somewhere else there are lots of good escape rooms in Edmonton.

We are experienced escape room players, but we did not enjoy this experience. The room was not clearly explained to us. The employee who served us didn’t tell the story well or make the story fun to listen to, more like he memorized the script.When our time ran out, we had just opened the Final box of the room. The employee came in and didn’t allow us to use the final key, and dismissed us and thanked us for coming.That is fine and fair, but I would spend my money at other escape rooms in the city before returning here. I’ve had better experiences in other rooms where employees will let you have an extra minute if you’re close, or will point out what you missed in order to finish. I’ve also had better experiences where the employees creatively tell a story that helps it be an immersive experience. Having the employee come in the room to give clues ruins the illusion that you’re “locked” in. They need to have employees that care about the job and try to make it feel immersive and are good at story telling.

Very fun and the gentleman at the front desk was kind and helpful. The rooms are a bit overused and run down but it doesn't affect the puzzles. I've done 2 rooms here and they were both super fun and challenging. Will definitely be back!

My spouse and I do tons of escape rooms. It’s our fav date night activity! But we won’t return to Breakout. The man working there was very nice, but the room was dated, worn down, and could use to be redone. I got a MASSIVE sliver from one of the pieces of furniture that was in the room that will likely leave a scar on my hand. The room we did followed no real story. Sure there was a theme, but the puzzles didn’t really relate to the theme at all. It was very random. A good escape room takes you through an immersive and connected experience. This was just a themed room with random puzzles that didn’t connect to the story whatsoever. Very disappointing and annoying. Spend your money elsewhere

I read other reviews of this spot and I would agree. The guy running the show was nice but his explanation was extremely scripted and his clue explanations were so difficult to understand that twice we had to get him to come back. The room was totally run down and it was very obvious that no ongoing maintenance is being done in the rooms. Also, the bathroom was super dirty. Probably won't come back.

The guy who was at the desk was very nice and helped us as my friend is new to escape rooms.However the room itself seemed run down, a lot of the items had grime on it and seemed old or over used. Would give a better rating if they fixed the items in the room or reprinted new puzzle sheetsPuzzles themselves were okay.Not sure if I would come back, but the staff was nice and accommodating.
