This store is a great addition in the community. The people working there are friendly, kind and super helpful.I and my daughter went in to seek advice on African pantry staples as she was doing a project with Federal Grant funding to help establish a Free Food Pantry at a local youth resource centre. We were focusing on providing international food items so BIPOC youth can have access to culturally appropriate food that helps make a meal at home. So we needed to locate global food stuffs from various cultures/countries cuisine to be represented. We were mindful of dietary requirements like vegetarian or need for Halal. The staff here at this store, heard us out and spent time showing us products and describing how it was used and interested to hear about our initiative in the community. They also have hot ready made delicacies for sale and we ordered a couple trays of their ready made items to have at the Pot Luck Unavailing ceremony for this community pantry project. One a private note, my daughter has a different textured hair and she has had difficulty since moving to Newfoundland to locate products that can help with her hair type. The staff here heard her concern and had knowledge of products they stock that can assist her. They however did not have the product on hand but told us their expected arrival date of the shipment. We are overwhelmed by their kindness, honesty and courtesy. We will be back to buy the hair product to try.Their friendly attitude made the shopping experience very pleasant even though we were not very familiar with the cuisine or ingredients. We bought some African cuisine staples for our pantry project and we couldn't have done it without their help. When the community pantry needs restocking, we highly recommend this establishment and will utilize them in future. We have gratitude for their hospitality for Sharing our cultures to help us support diversity and inclusivity in our community and our province through the love and necessity of food.5 star service!Thank you.

It's a big store. They sell all kinds of West African food that you might want. The price range of the food stuff here is quite certain considering the fact that the taxes are already included in the fixed price. So you're more certain of the cost and do not have to worry about tax.My major constraint is that, this store opens late. They open at 12pm which for me, is not necessarily a good time of the day to start one's business. Talk more, they even close by 10pm. Because they open by 12pm, there is not enough time in the day for shoppers to walk in and make purchases. However, if you're looking to make your assorted amala and ewedu, even poundo or semo with eguisi and correct stock fish, You can go to Wandebo. And for my plantain lovers, go and grab your plantain ASAP because plantain is always out of stock due to high demand and consumption.

This is grocery store where quality African food items can be gotten for various African dishes. Items from Nigeria, Ghana and West African countries can be easily obtained here such as body cream, hair cream, drinks, beverages, dairy etc. You will be amazed to see many African products you might not think you can get in Canada at this store and all come at an affordable price. Friendly staff and customer service top notch.

Really good African meat pies and African egg rolls, but order ahead and reserve yours to avoid disappointment. Accessible location with excellent parking. Friendly staff, and an eclectic selection of foods common to African cuisine.

Food was very good, was my first time trying Jollof rice and was pleasantly surprised. Chicken was moist and well seasoned, the rice itself was definitely different than what I am accustomed to but in a good way. Mildly spicy with a good depth of flavor. The only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is due to the disorganization. There were several children hanging about with one who appeared to be around 8 years old running the cash and orders and I waited around 10 minutes or so to speak with someone who seemed to actually be working there.I get the impression this is a very authentic family run business which shows in the quality of food and it was very affordable. This was not an issue for me, but I can see it being a very large deterrent to others as there wasn’t a proper menu available nor much in the way of communication.Ultimately it is absolutely worth trying, but be patient. I’m sure that they were likely very busy which impacted this and it may be different depending on the day or volume of orders.Edit: After the owners have replied, I am confident in saying that they genuinely care are likely one of the most authentic Nigerian/African spots you are going to find in Newfoundland. They genuinely care, the food is good and it seems they are more popular than they expected. Truly an asset to NL.

Each time I visit this store, I feel at home. The Nigerian spirit in me is brought to life. It's an African store located on Ropewalk Lane, St. John’s Newfoundland. Here, you can find basic Nigerian foodstuffs, spices, beverages, and even cosmetics such that you feel at home, away from home. However, be ready to spend a lot as these items come at a cost.
