Just stopped in here for the first time. I had chicken and ribs and the wife had pulled pork sandwich. Absolutely delicious and the guys are super friendly! Everyone in here is recommending the brisket so next time we shall try the brisket. Keep up the good work, see you again!Update before this review is done, sampled the brisket. Oh my goodness.5+stars!!!

It's tough to find good BBQ. It is truly an uncommon art North of the US. Sampled everything they had to offer here. What I can say after trying out the sampler platter is it absolutely hit the spot and exceeded expectations. Excellent bbq at a fair price. Nitpicking, the pulled pork was slightly dry, excellent sauce made up for it.

My wife and I were at the Back yard BBQ on Sat May20 with friends and the food was great. Good portions ,great service and prices were in line with most other food establishments. We will definitely be going back when in Amherst again.

Really professional grade bbq. If you’re passing through Amherst you need to stop in here. There’s a good chance the ribs and brisket would be better than you’d find in the South. And friendly people too!

I often drive between home on PEI and Halifax which makes Amherst a good place to stop to break up the drive. I wanted to try something that wasn’t a chain on my last trip, and figured this BBQ spot was worth a shot.I would soon learn that it’s not just ‘worth a shot’, this restaurant is nothing short of extraordinary.I couldn’t believe the quality and quantity of food I received for $13 at lunch. I ordered the brisket after a quick scroll through reviews and it was incredible: juicy as hell and sauced just enough to bring out the flavours of the meat, not overpower them. Service was terrific, too.Driving to Halifax tomorrow and I’m SO excited to stop in again. If there is one thing to do while in Amherst, even if just stopping for gas, it’s to have some of Our Backyard BBQ!

So, so good! Portions are huge, prices are more than fair, and everything we've tried is delicious. The brisket is a family favorite. The poutine is amazing. I don't think you'd regret any choice here.

Hole on the wall type beat.Walked in and was embraced by a comforting smoky smell of a good ol’ camp fire. Red rustic picnic benches and a full display of wood really tie the whole atmosphere together! The service was great, very friendly and polite, took our garbage/ dirty trays for us.The food is the star of the show! I ordered a 1/2 rack of ribs and my spouse the smoked brisket sandwich with sides of baked beans, Mac and cheese, and apple coleslaw between the two of us. The meat was juicy tender and falling off the bone. The sauce perfectly compliments the smoky favours of the ribs having a beautiful tangy buffalo flavour without the heat! The Mac was the perfect amount of cheesy with a sprinkling of crushed cheese puffs on top really completes the homey feeling of this place. Not to mention the amount of food you get for the price!! Unbeatable!If ever just passing through or looking for a good bite to eat I couldn’t be more excited to recommend this place!! So sad we’re traveling back to Ontario and have to wait what will seem like a lifetime before we can enjoy this Devine cuisine again.

Great food! Found this place on Google maps and we are glad we gave it a try. Got the brisket entree with fires and mac. Fries are crunchy and delicious, mac was super creamy. Brisket was good, a little fatty and as mentioned by others a little more sauce would go a long way. Will return next time we are driving through to try more of the meats.
