Thank you to the team at Compassionate Beauty for making my unfortunate journey with cancer, easier.I had used their services after having breast surgery, to find a breast prosthesis. Sandra fitted me and helped me find a new bra. I walked out of the store that day feeling confident and much more normal."Recently

EDIT: while comfortable for the 1st day or so, these compression bras ended up causing more pain than help. My surgeon told me they were several sizes too small, and I have since purchased 3 front-zip sports bras from Wal-Mart on his recommendation for half the price of one of the compression bras purchased at Compassionate. Due to the nature of the items there are no refunds, so it ended up being a rather costly ($189) mistake.Came in the day after breast reduction surgery and was treated warmly, professionally and with compassionate efficiency. Saundra and Crystal helped me out of my surgical bandages and into a compression bra, and I felt so much more comfortable immediately. Thank you very much for your help ❤️

We are so lucky in Calgary to have Compassionate Beauty. A Cancer diagnosis is hard enough but then you have to face all that goes with it. I found the staff here to be knowledgeable and compassionate. Michelle helped me pick out a wig which was not easy as I am petite. Wasn't thrilled with it at first until she cut and coloured it - it turned out amazing! So glad I trusted her and her hairdressing skills. Kudos Michelle. Never pushy, she guided me through the process and helped me choose other items that I would need as well. So glad she did. For anyone going through Cancer treatment and needing a wig/and/or/other related items I would highly recommend this place. You'll get great service and you will be supporting local business.

A sincere and heartfelt “Thank You” to all the staff at Compassionate Beauty who supported me today. There were so many unexpected and welcomed surprises that must be shared. In 2020, I had a lumpectomy surgery and radiation for breast cancer. I have struggled over the past two years to find bras that would fit, never mind flatter, the new me. Both my body image and confidence were low, and I often found myself trying to cover or hide myself. I didn’t think that would or could change. When I arrived at Compassionate Beauty, I immediately received a very friendly welcome and was taken to a large, comfortable, and cheery private fitting room where I was made to feel at ease with the process that was about to unfold. This was important to me as I was quite anxious about my disfigured body parts. The fitter who assisted me was welcoming and kind and started by inquiring about my concerns and preferences. She encouraged me to be completely honest as we moved through the process. She also let me set the level of privacy I needed when it came time to try on bras.I shared my discomfort with my appearance and how I would love to find a bra that I could wear confidently for sports (e.g. biking, hiking, strength training) and one that would make me feel feminine and attractive again for everyday life activities. The fitter noted that these feelings of discomfort are very common in post-treatment cancer patients. She noted that each body reacts differently to various treatments, so each fitting is unique. She shared that she had many tools and tricks in her tool kit to help solve my concerns. She also assured me she had bras that would fit comfortably and the damage from my past treatments would be invisible to others (i.e. the results of the treatments would only be my business) regardless of what I was doing. I was excited about the possibilities but still a bit weary. What transpired over the next 90 minutes was unbelievable and by the time I left the store, my confidence level was as high as it had been before cancer treatments. I felt like I was on “Say Yes to the Dress” except this was “Say Yes to the Breast”.Once we determined my size (my estimate of my size was way off), she selected several bras from a rack filled with styles and sizes for me to try on.She also introduced me to “breast forms” – they are soft and featherlight molds that fit inside specially designed bras. Breast forms were new to me. Because the forms came in different sizes, she was able to find a perfect match that replaced the tissue that had been lost and damaged. I was in awe at how effectively they enhanced the size and shape of the damaged breast and how symmetrical I looked. Wow! And the bras were nicer than those I had pre-cancer – double wow!The fitting went beyond finding the proper bra and form size. Time was spent giving attention to every detail including ensuring the band was not too tight or loose, finding a bra style that was sufficient to coverage the breast tissue under my arms, ensuring there was sufficient support for sporting activities, and ensuring the bras chosen created and enhanced my cleavage (I thought my days of cleavage were over!). I ended up choosing an Anita for the sports bra which is a wick away fabric and an Amoena for my perfect T-Shirt Bra. I also chose a Valetta Tank Top in a lovely light mauve color. It’s hard to describe how pretty and attractive I feel in them.I would have been happy if my visit had ended here but things got even better when the fitter explained that certain costs would be partially or fully covered by the Alberta Aids to Daily Living provincial government plan and/or by my insurance plan (e.g. fitting fees, form costs, bra costs). So “Thank You” again to all the staff at Compassionate Beauty for your kindness and compassion and for helping on this new path. I left feeling more feminine and beautiful than I have in a very long time.

My daughter and I visited Compassionate Beauty recently so I could purchase a wig as I'm just about finished chemotherapy and returning to work in the coming weeks. We were very warmly greeted as soon as we arrived by staff and made to feel immediately comfortable. I had a great experience with the Wig Stylist and we worked through many options until finding a wig. I was educated on wig care, provided products to take home, as well as a if you have any questions

What an amazing experience I had! While visiting my children in Calgary, I wanted to buy a new wig and luckily I found this place as it caters to people that are going or had gone thru cancer treatment. The staff is very professional and know their business. They fit me with a perfect wig that matched my skin tone very well. I came back a week later and ask bangs to be cut on the wig. They did an amazing job and I just love my new wig. I live in Prince George and this will be the place were I will get my next one. Thank you ladies for the awesome job, your kindness and support. Love your private fitting rooms. Also I was delighted to see that you sell the Teripo Medik Scalp Care to use during chemotherapy and radiation therapy. They made a big difference with me as they reduce my scalp pain and keep it moisturized. I do recommend them. See you soon my friends at Compassionate Beauty!

My wife called for appointment, got in next morning for private consultation. The shop is beautiful and our consultant was kind, professional and quick. Not knowing what to expect is of course nerve racking, but we soon learned everything we needed. My wife walked out with wig, hat & caps in hand. Awesome. It was really nice to feel so good when we left the shop, a much needed great start to the day. Thank you!

I recently took my Mom in to Compassionate Beauty after having a negative experience at a different Wig Store in the city, and I'm so glad I did!I called Compassionate Beauty and spoke with Cynthia to ask if it was possible for the wig my mom had already purchased elsewhere to be fixed, and to see if there was an alternative to wig clips for the wig to stay on better. She was very friendly and understanding, and fit my Mom in for an appointment later that day. This place truly is a godsend for women experiencing hair loss and the emotional trauma that comes with it. You get your very own private room with an actual hair dresser that looks just like a mini hair salon to be fitted for wigs, have your hair cut, or in my Mom's case to have her wig purchased elsewhere properly cut and styled. My Mom decided to keep the hair she has left for now, but it was nice to know that she had the option of getting it trimmed, as she wouldn't have felt comfortable being seen at a regular salon at this difficult time.Colleen honestly was a miracle worker in fixing the once bulky wig, she really made it look like real hair and patiently explained how to keep the wig on using a headband (it's way better than just using wig clips and only 25.00 for the headband.) Colleen was a very good listener and such a genuine, kind hearted person. My Mom is looking forward to purchasing her next wig from Compassionate Beauty. Her synthetic wig purchased elsewhere is netted, but all of Compassionate Beauty's wigs have clear caps so they look a lot more natural for the same price range around 450 for really nice synthetic wigs. Synthetic wigs are a much better option for my mom than real hair because it's lower maintenance to not have to style it herself. It's really nice to have a wide variety of options of wigs here with zero sales pressure.I highly recommend Compassionate Beauty and making an appointment with Colleen.

I went for a compression bra after reduction surgery. They didn't measure and just handed me a bra and helped me put it on. I didn't feel welcome to begin with and once something like that is on I feel like it's contaminated and I couldn't say no. It was the largest size they sold and didn't provide any compression the band is loose even with the hooks as tight as they can go. The shoulder straps slide off as well cause they sit on the edge of my shoulders. Fortunately it's tight enough that it does provide some support so it's not completely useless but I still have to get another from somewhere else. As my swelling decreases it will definitely not work.
