Van Isle Hazmat

My wife and I are in the process of redeveloping a property in the Uplands. We hired Van Isle Hazmat to carry out the hazmat abatement work prior to the demolition of the existing house. The hazmat assessment report had been completed by another party right after we purchased the house. The process with Van Isle was very professional and without any issues. Rob provided us with a detailed proposal, agreed to the schedule and supervised the work which was completed on time and on budget. I am no expert but it appeared to me that all necessary precautions were followed and log sheets maintained on site throughout the process. We were able to obtain a demolition permit from the District of Oak Bay based on their clearance letter without any further questions. So far so good... What earned them this review came long after their work had been completed. Due to a technical issue with our original hazmat survey resulting from countless delays in obtaining the demolition permit (unrelated to Van Isle), our demo contractor said that he would not be able to obtain clearance from local dump sites with our current paper work". It is not clear to me whether that concern was real or merely anticipated but nonetheless Claire (at Van Isle) spent the next several days going back and forth with local providers in order to get us accelerated clearance at both GFL and Hartland. He was absolutely attentive to our needs and problems, and made sure the job happened as quickly as possible. Everything was disposed of, and the unit thoroughly cleaned. Trauma cleaning is not an easy job, Zack and his company are consummate professionals. I recommend them highly.

While I have not had occasion to use this business, I would definitely do so based on conversations I’ve had with Robert. He was extremely helpful and generous in answering my questions about an asbestos-contaminated site, even though it was clear that the time he took with me would not garner him any income. His thoughtfulness and professionalism speak well of the company.
