Blyth Academy Downsview Park - School for Elite Athletes

I'm glad my husband and I decided to send our son to Blyth Academy Downsview this year for Grade 11, rather than back to public high school. Our son's grades have improved, thanks to teachers who care about his success. As a parent, I love that we get weekly updates and feedback. Two subjects per term fits nicely with balancing academics and hockey, which is another factor for improved grades. Both the principal, Mr. Hurley, and guidance counsellor, Ms De Cata, are very knowledgeable, approachable, and helpful. I would highly recommend Blyth Academy Downsview. Rita K.

My son entered the hockey program at Blyth Academy Downsview Park as a new Grade 5 student last Fall, and what an incredible year it has been for him. The entire Blyth experience - from the phenomenal on-ice coaching and personalized dryland fitness through to the student-centered, small class learning environment - has exceeded our every expectation. My son's personal, academic, and athletic growth and achievements since joining the school coupled with the nurturing and caring environment created by dedicated expert staff have resulted in his most positive curricular experience to date. We recently enrolled our son at the Blyth Academy at Downsview Park and cannot put into words how happy we are with the school as a whole. The small classes give our son the necessary attention needed to achieve his academic goals. Our son is also enrolled in the hockey program and he loves it!He loves starting every day on the ice and the coaches are top notch.

My son is thoroughly enjoying grade 9 at Blyth Academy Downsview; all staff members including Principal, teachers, in office and hockey coaches are knowledgeable and professional. My son looks forward to going to school each day as he is lucky to be in class with great classmates and excellent teachers.Also, in addition to a great academic program, Blyth offers amazing Hockey and fitness programs.

Blyth has been amazing for our son both academically and athletically!!! The small class size has made a real difference for him!Coming from the public school system with 30+ kids in his classes down to10 at Blyth has given him the opportunity to really focus and get a better understanding in all his subjects, improving his grades and the quality of education he receives.The faculty are top notch! Our family is beyond happy with our recent decision to move our 8th grade son to Blyth Academy Downsview. It has been a seamless transition, despite these challenging COVID times. Our son now looks forward to school everyday - he is engaged and interested! And an added bonus, he starts his day playing hockey with amazing coaches. It truly is a great fit for our athletic child. We would highly recommend the school to any child who loves sport, regardless of level of play. Adam and his team of educators are wonderful and in a short while have had significant impact on our son.

Our son joined Blyth this year and the school has exceeded our expectations. The school has made him feel welcome from the very first day. The athletic and academic programs have provided him with all of the tools and opportunities to excel to his full potential and beyond.

This is our first experience with Blyth Academy Downsview Park. Our son is in grade five and part of the hockey program. He has never been happier to attend school.He loves the hockey program. It is professionally conceived and delivered. Instructors are knowledgeable and not only care about his on-ice performance but also his mental game. He loves the opportunities to work with goalie coaches and have the chance to battle his friends/classmates when they are shooting on him.Attention to athleticism and well-being are another thing at Blyth that we are very impressed with. Our son has daily physical training that includes both dedicated sport-specific training and general sport participation. He looks forward to each day consulting with the strength-and-conditioning coach and working out with his friends & classmates.Beyond the amazing hockey program, our son loves to go to class again. He has a great teacher who challenges him both academically and in the arts. They share a love for drawing and sketching. Everyday, when we pick him up after school, he immediately talks about what a great day he had and what he did in his classes (language, math, visiting a high school science class, art, etc.). As parents, we are so grateful to see such enthusiasm about school & learning in our son.Thank you Mr. Doctorow, Mr. Hurley, Ms. Lam and all of the Blyth family of staff. We couldn't be more impressed with the school, its people and how our son is thriving athletically & academically and how he is maturing as a young man. We can confidently say, Blyth is the right place for our son.

My son started Blyth Academy this school year, and true to their Mission Statement, they have not disappointed. Their focus on each student to enhance their Academic Achievement goes above and beyond. The small classrooms and attention to each child is amazing. The Balance from the Ice to the classroom is superb and well thought out. Both the Teacher's and On Ice Instructor's have been helpful and cooperative from the get go!Any Elite Athlete looking to attend a school in the GTA area should really consider looking into attending Blyth Academy! They will not disappoint!

Blyth Academy has made tremendous and positive changes to its Downsview Campus. My son William is in his third year at this campus and is eager and excited every single day to go to school. Blyth offers an excellent sports program delivered by experienced and knowledgeable coaches as well as an outstanding academic program. My son particularly enjoys the 4 terms school year. He is able to focus and concentrate on two subjects at a time. As a busy athlete, it allows him to achieve better results at school and his sports discipline. The teachers at Blythe are understanding, very competent and make the success of their students a high priority. They provide an hour of study time at the end of the day where there are always teachers present to help them with any questions they might have. My son William takes full advantage of these tutorial sessions and attends them on a daily basis. At Blyth, my son is enthusiastic about school, he is highly motivated and is driven to become a better student. Moreover, as parents, we always feel welcome in the school community. I am extremely pleased with the highly professional staff and administration.
