Our server did an amazing job explaining the specialization of Moden Steak and the difference between each cut. The steak came just as expected. Will definitely be back.

MODERN STEAK on Stephen Avenue
Wonderful time tonight visiting this steakhouse for the first time. Our waitress Pauline was such a gentlewoman and a scholar, made the whole experience that much better with her service and recommendations. Really loved my steak as well and all the different desserts we had. Max the manager was great and made sure to go around all the tables to ensure everyone’s experience was top tier. Great team and environment here tonight. Will absolutely be back again.

I was fuming leaving this place, just one comment from our server ruined our lunch. The atmosphere was 1st class and the roof top terrace was amazing, but we wanted a table in the sun so the staff retracted the sun shade for us. We ordered the Jack Daniels steak which was very tasty although I normally go for a fillet. Desert was lovely but half way through, the sun shade starts closing again, it was like someone switched the lights out. When I asked if it could be opened again, our server stated two girls just having a beer had requested it closed. So I suppose next time I shouldn’t spend over $200 but just get a $9 beer and to hell with everyone else.

Had an absolutely wonderful time with a large group of my girlfriends last week. They put us on a set menu and i loved every course. The dumpling and the steak were my favourite. The steak was super flavourful and tender. My girlfriends and I are still talking about how we can’t wait to go back. Felt bad for some of the staff though they sure do have some rude guests that come in. Crazy how people act these days. Love you Modern and you’re doing an amazing job. BEST ALBERTA BEEF !!!! ❤️

An amazing meal, service was friendly and fast. All food exceeded expectations and was hot. My daughter from Vancouver said the steak was the best she’s ever had and my wife loved the risotto. We loved the Tartare as well. Tomahawk Tuesday is a great date night option. The beef is ranch specific. I will be back soon.

Really liked this place. Service was great.Didn't love the truffle popcorn, Brussel sprouts or the lack of table bread.Otherwise it was a great experience.

Poor experience. Went with a group of 20 so had to order off of a set menu and didn't get the full menu. The wagyu dumplings were very good, I will admit that, but the steak was tough to cut through and full of sinew. The shrimp cocktail was like any other and so was the dessert. What we thought we were getting was a good steak and for $125 a meal for the 4 course meal option it wasn't anywhere close to worth the money. Server was nice enough but nothing they could do to help. Disappointing.

We tried Modern Steak the other night. About the only way to describe the evening was very disappointing. It’s funny because we had eaten at Chairman’s Steakhouse only a month ago and we ordered a similar steak at both places - the porterhouse for two. Unfortunately, the steak at Modern was not near the level of Chairman’s but was a similar price. Our steak at modern wasn’t cooked properly, didn’t taste that good and was advertised as a 36 ounce steak but the majority of that weight was bone. At Chairman’s we got both sides of the porterhouse and it was the best steak I’ve ever had. At Modern they only serve you one side of the Porterhouse and we ordered medium and it was served rare. I guess we should have sent it back but we didn’t want to cause a scene. We certainly will never go back to Modern and will let our friends know not to waste any money there.

MODERN STEAK on Stephen Avenue
Enjoyed a beautiful lunch on the rooftop. Great steak, beautiful salad and truffle fries to die for. Service was great and drinks were amazing. Loved our time on the deck and can’t wait to enjoy another great meal at Modern Steak.
