I took a rock off the windshield one evening and called. He gave me pointers on how to prevent the chip from spreading until I could get to his shop the next morning. My chip was quite bad. Actually had a chunk of a layer of glass missing. Due to how bad it was, he warned me of potential spreading of the crack during the repair. But he was able to do it with out any spreading and its fixed.
