Recovered food market by donation. Not what their website advertizes. It's more a foodbank than a store that would allow you the dignity to shop and pickout what you'd like. Had to wait in the heat and direct sunlight/rain/snow/ice, on the sidewalk, right on busiest part of W. 2nd, for over an hour. They let in 8 at a time, but I had a walker and was pushed aside while others pushed in front of me and scooped up all the good fresh veges. Then raced past me and took the best of the 1 item of dairy/seafood they give. The volunteers are very good though. They came out, gave numbers, kept the lineup from getting chaotic and kept coming back with cold drinks and water for dogs. Friendly greeters dispensing hand sanitizers as ppl enter and offering masks if you want one.If you are physically able to stand and wait and have 3 hours to give up, maybe it's worth it? But for a couple veges, 1 dairy /1 meat item, I found it too exhausting and time consuming. They keep putting out 4 new bins of veges to stop ppl from lining up early and for hours, but ppl do anyway. Good concept but has a lot of kinks to work out.

Love the concept and the people and program. My only concern is that I was in line with a few older Asian seniors who raced to just grab all the produce when entering like there was no tomorrow haha.I grabbed what I needed but felt the other people in my line was also taken aback. In that scenario I think it’s best if volunteers are there to hand it out

Honestly, I am a service provider for their building. I was there fixing something, but they are so nice, and I see how they are helping the community. If you have food, money, or resources to donate, bring it here. They will help someone in need, in a community spirited way.

Read in the news about connecting surplus groceries to those in need via the pay-what-you-feel model, or just to anyone who cares about helping the environment by minimizing food waste.A nobel idea and I hope it works out.I will check it out as a paying customer the next time I am in that area, and I hope you do too.
