BEST Korean and Japanese food i had in awhile i can literally eat here all the time--usually order from skipthedishes but it was even better dining in--never disappointed!!!!

My family has been eating at On the Rice for months now and we absolutely love it. Everything we have ordered is amazingly good and fresh. Spicy but not too hot and so tasty. They always set the expectation on how long the food will take and are usually right on time. Thank you for never disappointing!

Had the Bulgogi On The Rice and Takoyaki. Everything was delicious and totally satisfied my cravings for good Korean food. The Owner/Employees were very friendly and had my order ready quickly. If I had any complaints (and I don’t), I would say the Takoyaki were a bit small and they were gone in a blink of an eye. But that might be my fault lol.

Found this gem on google when I passed by Newmarket and looking for lunch. It’s a fusion between Korean and Japanese foods. Glad that I stopped here and tried their lunch. Ordered spicy bbq pork and teriyaki chicken bento, both served with miso soup. The interior was not too spacious but enough to accommodate for 4-5 tables of dine in. I was very surprised with the taste of my spicy bbq pork, I believe they must have marinated with Korean sauce and added sweet mayo to make it so flavourful. The portion was generous, they do have lunch special (slightly better deal) and I definitely will come back again to try different menu! Really enjoyed my order!

Small place but great food! Their service is pretty good as well. Bulgogi was delicious as well as the korean meatloaf bowls. Would come again, the portions are filling which is what I want in a place!

Full marks for taste and service. Only dinged for price and quantity and small dining area, but I suppose that is not a fair point. More of a pickup place than dine in, but I guess at least they have some space to eat. 4 tables of 4 seats are just spaced out enough. The lady at the front is not Korean. What a pleasant surprise, not that it matters, but she was really pleasant to deal with. Regarding price, I would have been happier if it was 1 to 2 dollars less but I did enjoy it but I had to add the $7 Seaweed salad to my 6 piece Galbee lunch special that was $17 I think it was. If the galbee pieces were all med to large I would have been fine with the price but some were smaller. All in all I left stomach happy but not wallet happy at $26 before tax which includes the almost $2 can of pop. Perhaps a better combo that includes a side and drink for $20 total would be much better. Smaller Japchae app that's not a $20 offering would be a good idea too.

Food is very flavourful and yummy, would recommend going if you are craving some Korean or Japanese food or just hungry in general and you want to have something unique. Overall very good restaurant!

Went with friends and absolutely loved the food. Pricy but the portions are worth it. Food was fresh and spicy! The staff were super friendly.

Tried the Smoked salmon roll and the Bulgogi roll and they tasted great! Would have preferred a little less of the sauce on top as it can sometimes overpower the taste of the roll. The place only does takeout. Would recommend ordering on the phone prior to getting there otherwise you might have to wait for about 20-30 mins while they prepare your order. The staff were very pleasant and helpful.
