I had surgery on my right foot and am 1 year post op. I was very nervous to have this surgery and lived with chronic pain for 25 years. It was when I was told by a specialist that my right foot is done and has had a good life... I was referred to Dr. Lu. Dr. Lu is definitely an expert! Dr. Lu has changed my life and I am so very thankful I had this surgery. I have recommended Dr. Lu to others and would do it all again! Dr. Lu and staff are wonderful and truly a blessing. Thank you Dr. Lu!

I am posting this on behalf of Inger England who had bunion surgery on September 29, 2020. After 4 months the foot is almost back to normal and pain free. Very happy with outcome!!! Cannot say enough good things about Dr. Lu, his office and physio staff! They are friendly and highly efficient. Would recommend Dr. Lu to anyone who is requires bunion surgery.

Dr.Christopher Lu is a great surgeon. Just had my bunion removed May 11, 2021. It was a very smooth process and his recommendations about equipment was totally accurate. His knowledge and professional attitude makes you feel more comfortable approaching surgery date. When Dr.Lu has the initial exam you are free to ask any questions and he will tell you all to expect I was told Dr.Lu was highly recommend know this is true. I have also received a follow up call the day after my surgery to see how I was. In future I will recommend Dr. Lu to others I do know who have the same and or foot problems. Will update once bandages are off and pin removed but I know I’m going to be pleased with the outcome I’m sure of it. Please listen to Dr. Lu he knows what he is doing and mostly knows exactly what he is telling you. Marilyn

My experience with this ‘clinic’ started with my family doctor referring me for a foot surgery. 2 weeks went by after referral and no body called me. My doctor provided me with the phone number, so I called today, to be shocked and disgusted with the receptionist. Extremely unprofessional and in the complete wrong profession. People at fast food restaurants have more patience and general kindness. She initially was rude to me because she couldn’t get my name right over the phone, rudely telling me how ‘next time’ I need to use words when spelling my name because ‘f’ and ‘s’ sound alike. I was then about to write down the date of a consultation. She asked after 5 seconds “ready?!” She then rudely told me to “you should always have a pen and paper ready”. since she had to wait literally 15 seconds. ( I was not prepared as I only called to see what was happening since I didn’t hear from this clinic for 2 weeks time) She then told me a date and time (within the next week) so I needed to check if this day would work. She was clearly in a big hurry to get off the phone, so I said sure, if I am not available I will call back to change the date (seeing as how she did not have time for me) she said no if you’re going to cancel I have to cancel this date, and tried booking me half a month later then. I stated I just need to check my calendar to see my availability, but that I can tell you’re rushing. She said “yes I have 2 people standing in front of me waiting for me” so I told her to go deal with them then.And will now be finding a new referral. As a receptionist, you are the first point of contact for this clinic. I wonder how many other patients didn’t go to Dr.Lu due to his rude receptionist. I unfortunately did not catch her name but reading other reviews I am not surprised by this now. If you need surgery, I would not even contemplate going here. Surgery is a stressful, scary thing and the last thing you need is some nasty receptionist who had a bad day taking it out on you.

My experience with Dr. Lu was terrifying. My mom had severe nerve pain in her left foot, after his diagnosis he told her it’s due to diabetes and nothing can be done. I asked him “so you are saying she has to deal with this pain all her life” he response was “yes, pretty much”. His recommendation after the appointment was to read this book on diabetes (knowing she doesn’t speak English), control diabetes and he prescribed her “pain killer” for nerve pain.We left the office, totally dishearten. I didn’t trust his diagnosis therefore, I booked an appointment with another Specialist and he was able to cure my mom’s foot. He told us Dr. Lu gave my mom even wrong medication. His diagnosis were completely wrong. He rushed us through the whole appointment. Please be vigilant when booking an appointment with this doctor.

Dr Lu is nothing short of outstanding. Though brief and not big on the warm fuzzies, he’s incredibly skilled and knowledgeable and I had full confidence putting not just my ankle, but my future mobility in his capable hands. It doesn’t take too long to put together that you’re lucky to be in his care.

Dr. Lu and the staff at Georgetown hospital are amazing. I had 2 surgeries in 2021. A right foot bunion surgery and later a left foot toe surgery. Dr. Lu's online notes about surgery prep and recovery process were very helpful. I have recommended him to many people. Thanks to Dr. Lu for giving me back the ability to walk pain free.

I would like to thank you Dr. Lu for my bunion surgery. Dr. Lu is very good and kind and knowledgeable.He took time explain everything before my surgery. The appointment went well and the day of my surgery again he came out to the waiting room and make sure I am ok.The surgery went well and I am recovering Can’t wait to walk normal again without pains.I don’t live close to the hospital but I don’t mind go there for my surgery because of someone like Doctor. In five months, I have had two surgeries to remove bunions on both of my feet. I couldn’t be happier with the results. Dr. Christopher Lu is professional, has a friendly manner, and is also open to any questions you may have. He is genuinely an expert in his field.I would like to tell you about my success and journey regarding my preparation and surgeries. I’ve always eaten healthy, stayed active, and watched my weight. I’ve had bunions on both of my feet for over 40 years, and they have been very uncomfortable for many years, as well as making it difficult to buy shoes that fit. Even wide comfortable shoes were no longer comfortable. Dr. Lu had performed bunion surgery on a family member with great success, and so I passed Dr. Lu’s information onto my family doctor to be referred. I am very active. Dr. Lu warned me that if I could not dedicate 16 weeks to heal for each of my surgeries, that I should not have them done. It is most definitely worth the downtime. I had my first surgery October 4, 2022, and the second on January 10, 2023, and was able to resume all regular activities 9 weeks later for each! Dr. Lu and his team did a fantastic job with both of my surgeries. The first surgery incision was approximately 1 cm, and the second was done arthroscopically. My foot was heavily bandaged, and Dr. Lu encouraged me to put weight on it, so I was able to walk out of the hospital with no cane or crutches. Once home, I kept my foot elevated as much as possible over the next three weeks. I also used a Bregg’s ice machine constantly over the first 72 hours to help with swelling and healing. I took a minimal amount of Tylenol and Advil over the first 72 hours. I was given a prescription to of pain relievers but did not need it.Tips:• Get more active, if you are not already.• Eat healthy in the weeks, months before your surgeries.• Resume light exercise a week after surgery.• Continue to eat healthy and no junk food or sugar. Healing will be faster.• Start physiotherapy as soon as pin is removed.• Massage incision once sutures dissolve. Mine took 6-8 weeks (I used a mixture of coconut oil and vitamin E). Incisions are looking great.• Sleep with pillow between legs.• I went for a few manual lymphatic drainage massage therapy treatments. That really helped me with swelling.I highly recommend Dr. Christopher Lu. He is an excellent orthopaedic surgeon. I do not live nearby, but it was well worth the drives to Georgetown. Dr. Lu said that I would not have pretty feet, but they certainly look 100% better than they did! I was in excellent hands with Dr. Lu. I am extremely happy with the results of my surgeries. As well, I’d like to add that the hospital staff are very friendly.

Dr Lu is a fantastic surgeon. I had bunion surgery on June 29, 2021. My foot looks fantastic. My big and middle toes were crossed and I had a difficult time wearing shoes. My foot looks normal again. I am just waiting for the swelling to go away.
