Manor Guest House

The pictures online were probably taking many years ago when fresh paint still adorned the walls. Now, it is a tired, unkempt and run down guest house that is barely above hostel quality but at a steep price. I don’t really know how these owners get away with charging this much for what you get. There is no air conditioning so on a hot night you will need to have your window open. And the windows don’t have bug screens. Hello mosquitos!The staff I dealt with spoke only basic English. Sorry, but this place is a sham. I advise you to stay away.

I had reserved the loft for 6 nights. When we got there, they took one look at us and said, that room is not ready for you. I asked what we were going to do as we needed a room to stay, owner said for an extra $116.00 they had a room available in the basement and I would have to be moved 2 times more in the 6 days. 2nd time I was in a room with twin beds, that wasn't so bad, but the last 2 nights I got moved to the third floor, shared bathroom. open kitchen, slanted walls. When it was time to check out, I told the owners and had to lug my heavy suitcase down 3 flights of stairs. When I got the bottom floor all out of breath, the manager said, do you need any help, I told her, too later for that. Room's were clean, didn't care for the shared bathrooms and the cooking just outside my bedroom. Continental breakfast was between 8-9, I was up at 5am, needless to say, I didn't get the breakfast. Will not stay there again.

Dirty, rooms not as pictured online, TV didn't work, food and dirty dishes all over the kitchen. Super weird people staying there. The person who, I assume left food everywhere, decided to cook and do (some) dishes at 3am, in the kitchen which is literally right outside the bedroom door. The front doors of the building do not lock. You can lock the door of the room you're staying in, but anyone can come in off the street so I didn't feel very safe. The locks on the bathroom door are super sketchy to, I did not feel safe showering while staying here. The only good thing about this place is the location. Considering the low price, if they'd posted actual photos of the rooms I probably wouldn't have minded the run-down accommodations, but the dishonesty really, really bugs me.

Very friendly hosts, who were always available when I happened to go to the reception. The rooms was comfortable enough, washroom was good with a nice shower. Breakfast to go was very basic, but breakfast nonetheless. The berry and chocolate muffins were divine, and I should probably have eaten less of those.There was a pipe or something running in the wall next to my bed though, which ran for most of the evening. It was loud and kind of annoying when trying to sleep, and is the reason I don't give 4 stars despite the amazing location and availability of parking.

0/5 - NO STARS AT ALLThe photos show nice bedrooms but they are NOT. You can hear everything from above and the side rooms. I booked a room thru HOTELS>COM and it was supposed to have a washroom but when i got there the person in charge assigned me room with a shared washroom, i said that in any place in my reservation said that and was unacceptable, he changed me to a room with washroom that was smelly, pee smell and I had to wash the shower curtain because of the terrible smell. BED BUGS!!!! I have bites from bed bugs, I stayed 2 nights and the room was never cleaned, smelly and terrible.Walls are dirty and the floors too, You don't want to s be there and spend 190 dollars per night with such conditions. My worst experience ever! You have to see how they feed the electricity into the room, not up to code and dangerous!

I agree with all other 1 star ratings. I stayed here a few months ago. Avoid this place. Although it is cheap, it is not worth it. We left bananas on top of the fridge and woke to nibbles taken from it. We saw many mice/rats, told the landlord who dumped her cat in the area to sort it out. Cockroaches and mould everywhere. Broken furniture. I opened the dishwasher to an awful smell and actual mouldy wooden spoon. I doubt it worked. Huge stains on the walls. The landlord on 2 occasions knocked heavily on the bedroom door and insisted I allow new customers" who she had standing there to view the room (I was mid way through a virtual work meeting). The place generally smells like urine and no matter how much we scrubbed the place it still felt and smelt unclean. The outdoor area is like a dump. Hope this inspires at least a few people to avoid this place."

Breakfast was very nice. Room was small but very reasonable for the price. We had our own bathroom, which was clean and modern. One light for our room was outside the room in the hallway, but not that big an issue. Beds were very comfy and pillows very soft and fluffy, and they provided a lot of towels when we checked in. A good shared kitchen space available, as well.

This place was disgusting. The room was worn and smelled of stale smoke.The couch was missing cushions and was torn on the arms. The washroom was dirty. One of the adjacent rooms had cigarette smoke coming from it.We weren’t even in the room 5 minutes and we left asking for our money back. It wasn’t what they advertised. They returned only 90 % of our money.We ended up staying at Cambie lodge a block away and it was amazing.

After staying here, I feel the need to write a review, especially after reading all the really intense one-star reviews left by other guests. On the whole, this is a really good value hotel with an excellent location. Despite what is written here, I stayed for 3 nights in a room with a private bathroom and the place was very clean. At no point was I concerned about any vermin or otherwise, and the mattress was clean without any bedbugs. You can do so much worse at this price point, and I would stay here again next time I'm back in Vancouver. It's at least as good as any Hostel International in the city and I'd recommend it to other backpackers.The house loses a star because the walls are quite thin, and all it takes is one noisy neighbour in the middle of the night. Also the front lobby does smell weird. It's not cat pee, as other commenters noted, but it is.... weird. The smell goes away in your room, though!

The language barrier makes it hard to communicate with owner/s. They don't actually have a proper price point, as they make the price when they see weather or not you can afford it. I say this because for a room with its own bathroom King size bed and what's supposed to be cable included for 450 for the week. But upon arriving realized there was a tv but no cable. The next time we stayed there we got a room which was smaller and didn't have a bathroom we were being charge 500 for the week. The sheets were washed but had stains (gross) and owner is very intrusive and annoying to deal with she only understands $$ anything else she doesn't seem to get
