**This salon will be relocating to 1223 Bank Street (Old Ottawa South) on/around Dec 20th**Exceptional service from Andy every single time. I have always been happy with the results (haircuts, full bleach & tone, along with root touchups every few months).I highly recommend calling in to book an appointment. These guys are extremely busy, regardless of the day and time of year, it seems. As such, also prepare for potential wait times upon arrival/during your appointment.This salon is similar to the Chinese establishments in Toronto and Richmond, BC. Do not be intimidated by the predominantly Mandarin-speaking environment. Cantonese and English are available upon request. Although the main clientele appears to range between their 20s-40s, I've also seen families with younger children come in for services on multiple occasions.The stylists do not upsell any products or treatments. All major methods of payment are accepted.

I recommend this place if you’re looking for east asian haircuts/color/styling. Many of the hairdressers speak limited english but the receptionist seems to be fluent enough. I showed my stylist a picture of what I wanted and he did a great job replicating. I was impressed because I expected him to pull out some fancy tools like thinning scissors, but he did it all with a basic pair of scissors. The process took about 1.5 hrs.

I’ve had a bone to pick with the Ottawa hair scene as an Asian with stick straight, thick hair. I feel like I’ve tried every salon and every “kept secret” stylist in Ottawa but none have shaped or coloured my hair the way I wanted. Cuts either made my hair look too wispy/unruly and dyes always pulled orange on me.I came in with a bad dye job that left my roots bronze orange and the rest of my hair basically black. Andy was able to redye my hair into a nice cool brown that I was hoping for and also reshaped my hair so my bangs framed my face nicely. He didn’t try to sell me any products and gave me tips on how to style my hair according to my face shape.Getting an appointment is a little difficult as the wait is about 2 weeks and if you don’t speak Mandarin/Cantonese it can be hard to communicate. Nonetheless A-One is so worth it if you are East-Asian/Southeast Asian and have had zero luck finding a good stylist in OttawaI will be coming here as long as A-One is in Ottawa :)

I went there for the first time. There was a language barrier, but the hairstylist made sure that he understood what I wanted via translator and checked in with me. They took their time with my haircut, it was about 1.5 hours!The staff were friendly and the haircut was $60. Not bad!

Best place!!!Really cheap and super quality!All the staff is really friendly and eager to try your ideas and give you advice about different styles and options.You need a reservation, I would recommend Andy!They mainly speak mandarin and cantonese but you can just go and speak english. I do not speak any Chinese.Also, they sell a lot of different products for your hair.

This place is amazing! Hairstylists here are artists! They consider everything to suggest you a good haircut, type of face, skin tone and your wishes. The employees are friendly and I could perceive a familiar environment. The place is clean and pretty. They make their beat effort, cutting, washing and rinsing your hair for a very affordable price. :).

Poor customer service, employees are very rude and would openly insult you in chinese. They are also racist by literally telling a customer and I quote We close our blinds just so we don't have to serve white people."It doesn't end there...The place is a hazard with no one sweeping the floors and the place filled with hair combined with sharp scissors it's just a lawsuit waiting to happen.Conclusion? This place is all looks and held up by their regulars that are willing to pay an overpriced haircut that you could get much cheaper elsewhere."

They treat the store like their house. They gossiped in Mandarin about customers and it was a very uncomfortable experience to sit through and remember.My hairdresser was polite overall but did not even pause once to ask if I was okay with what he was doing. My hair ended up 3 inches shorter than desired... It is insane how much he can just act like he was listening to me when I was explaining what I wanted. He also gave me side bangs I didn't even ask for...
